Will the Skoda Kushaq get a CNG variant in 2023?

View Forum Discussion

The CNG variant of the Skoda Kushaq could come with the 1.0-litre engine.

Maruti Suzuki and Tata already offer CNG variants of their popular models, while Hyundai and Kia are likely to enter the fray soon. The latest spy images indicate that Skoda might also be looking to grab a piece of the pie.

A test mule of the Skoda Kushaq fitted with an emissions testing kit was recently spotted, leading to speculations that the carmaker could be developing a CNG version of its compact SUV.

The Skoda Kushaq equipped with a factory-fitted CNG kit is expected to get a separate ECU and retuned suspension. Skoda will also have to make some changes to the engine components to be able to run on CNG fuel.

At present, the Kushaq is available with two turbo-petrol engine options. These include a 1.0-litre unit that makes 113 BHP and 178 Nm and a 1.5-litre engine that puts out 148 BHP and 250 Nm. It’s the former that is likely to get the CNG option.
