Witnessed many sports cars at a Cars & Coffee event held in Bangalore

The highlight was the Shark Blue Porsche 911 Carrera S. The owner, a passionate petrolhead, was kind enough to let me take a look inside.

A bit late to post this but better late than never. A couple of weeks ago, a Cars & Coffee event was held. This edition was focused on sports cars for a nice morning coffee meet-up and a short drive afterwards. It was a gloomy morning but that did not stop a cool lineup of cars from showing up. We decided to meet at Prestige Trade Towers along with coffee at Maya’s. Though there were no restrictions of any sort on brands it was a proper Audi takeover with 5 Audis amongst the lot!

Some photos of cars arriving and parking up on a gloomy Sunday morning.

One of the fastest Audi TT in the country. The owner showed a big list on this phone and had to scroll twice to cover the full list

A Defender 90 used like it's meant to be.

Probably the only F30 M3 Competition in the country

Of course, we had to park both the S5 together, giving a good view of pre-FL and FL S5, twinning in different shades of green.

The highlight was of course the Shark Blue 911 Carrera S. The owner, a passionate petrolhead, has driven this car like it’s meant to be. Not a garage queen by any means. He was kind enough to let me take a look inside and take in that feeling of sitting behind the wheel of a Porsche 911. Highlights of this car were the CF door sills and red seat belts as an optional extra.

As we got set to head for the short drive, I was handed the keys to this beautiful Volvo S60 Polestar. With the Volvo Twincharge, both a supercharger and a turbocharger under the hood, this car is rowdy on the roads pushing out 376HP from its 2.0L In-Line 4! What was eye-opening was the sheer amount of features on this car. It comes standard with heating seats, not just for the front but the back seats as well. It comes with heated steering and what tops it all is the perfect blend of Leather and Alcantara on the inside with a proper Swed colour combination of the Sobriety-Test Blue (what a name right?) and Yellow seat belts.

The car is quite sedate in D mode. Shift it to S and it’s always ready to pounce forward at the slightest of throttle input. Had to take it very easy in the city, especially when you have hordes of 2 and 3-wheelers cutting so close to the car. Once we reached the airport road flyover it was time to push it a little. The car was quite quick and shifting feels smooth with the added firm feedback from the metallic paddles. 3rd gear was enough to put behind any vehicle on the highway. The only downside was the brakes. These were EBC Yellow Stuff, and a few cycles of slight braking were enough to let them fade. Sudden braking post was only pumping the brakes. But flaws aside, this was a thoroughly fun car to drive. The response and precision is really good, the suspension is top notch and the power is more than you can ask for.

What a view from the Polestar's cabin!

We reached the airport toll and after a brief photoshoot, we headed back to town to stop at Shell at Lavelle.

We were in for a treat to see a clean Porsche 911 Turbo S in Carmine Red. Also spotted another Porsche 911 Carrera S around the same area.

This was definitely a proper petrolhead Sunday morning. Sundays are just meant for Car Guys.
