World's first airbag helmet unveiled by Airoh

While there is no official launch timeline for its launch, reports suggest that it could make its debut sometime early next year.

Italian manufacturer, Airoh has unveiled the world's first airbag-integrated helmet prototype.

The new safety technology is said to have been developed in collaboration with a Swedish manufacturer, Autoliv - known for their experience in airbag vests & motorcycle inflatable solutions.

The airbag-integrated helmet works in the same way as the airbag on a car's dashboard. Upon detecting an impact, the airbag is deployed electronically from the helmet's crown and other smaller sections on the outer shell. Airoh claims that with the airbag absorbing most of the impact the probability of a skull fracture is reduced by half. However, no other details have been provided.

The airbag helmet has been undergoing testing since 2020. Airoh is also working on offering all the other external features as that on a conventional helmet. Reports state that the helmet faced the challenge of complying with the ECE22.06 safety standards.

While there is no official launch timeline for its launch, reports suggest that it could make its debut sometime early next year.
