Yamaha R15 crosses 1 million production milestone

The R15 is now in its fourth generation. The bike is priced at Rs 1,88,600 (ex-showroom, Delhi).

Yamaha is celebrating a major milestone in India as the production of the R15 has crossed the 1 million mark.

The Yamaha R15 was launched in 2008. It is manufactured at the brand’s Surajpur plant, and more than 90% of these units are sold in India.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Itaru Otani, Chairman, India Yamaha Motor Group of Companies, said, “We extend our immense gratitude to our customers for their unwavering trust and to our employees for their dedication, which has been instrumental in achieving this landmark.â€

The Yamaha R15 was one of the first fully-faired supersport bikes introduced in India. Now in its fourth generation, the bike is priced at Rs 1,88,600 (ex-showroom, Delhi).

The R15 is powered by a 155cc, single-cylinder engine that delivers 18 BHP @ 10,000 rpm and 14.2 Nm @ 7,500 rpm. The engine is paired with a 6-speed gearbox via an Assist & Slipper clutch.
