Mercedes F1 drops Schumacher branding

Just before the start of this year's Formula One season in Australia, the Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 team has dropped the "KeepFightingMichael" hashtag from its car's livery. This has disappointed some fans of Michael Schumacher, who are hoping to see the legend make a recovery.

Ever since his tragic skiing accident in December 2013, during which he suffered serious head injuries that left him in coma, Mercedes had published a message of their former team driver on its race cars. Schumacher's health condition has been kept secret to the outside world.

The Mercedes team has defended its decision to remove the message from its 2017 championship challenger - the W08. A team spokesperson said, "It was to free the way for future usage of the message." The team also said, "Now, Keep Fighting is an initiative that was founded at the end of 2016 to encourage people to fight in real life based on the incredible fighting spirit of Michael. Mercedes and Michael Schumacher's family will together work on a variety of activities which will be communicated in time."

Michael Schumacher is one of the most successful drivers in the history of Formula One, winning a record 91 races and 7 World Drivers' Championships during his career.
