Rumour: Jeep India to launch Compass Trailhawk at Auto Expo

Jeep recently revealed details about the India-spec Compass, which is expected to be launched later this year. Some media reports now mention that the SUV maker might also launch the Trailhawk version of the Compass at the 2018 Auto Expo.

The Trailhawk is basically a beefed up version of the regular Compass. It gets off-road inclined equipment, including a raised suspension setup, dual purpose on/off road tyres and skid plates to cover the underbelly. Additionally, the Compass Trailhawk will also get some cosmetic alterations, including blacked out body panels and revised bumpers that will house exposed tow hooks. The raised suspension increases the SUV's approach, breakover and departure angles, thus boosting its off-road capabilities. There is also a new Rock drive mode on offer, in addition to the other four modes (Auto, Snow, Sand and Mud) that are available with the regular models.

The Compass Trailhawk will likely be available only with the 2.0-litre, four-cylinder MultiJet II diesel engine. It will come with a four-wheel drive setup as standard. Power and torque figures might be tweaked to be in-line with the Jeep's off-road friendly character.
