Delhi govt. to implement odd-even scheme without exemptions

The government of Delhi has agreed to implement the odd-even scheme without any exemptions. The decision has been taken in the wake of increasing air pollution in the capital. The National Green Tribunal (NGT) had rapped the state government for its inability to take measures to reduce pollution after the Sri Lankan cricket team complained about poor air quality during the 3rd test match at Firoz Shah Kotla in Delhi.

It has been reported that the Delhi government submitted an action plan to the NGT on Wednesday in which, the government has proposed to implement the odd-even scheme when pollution levels reach the 'severe' category.

The government has also agreed to scrap all exemptions which the NGT had earlier objected to when the scheme was proposed back in November 2017 . As per the new plan, 2-wheelers, women, vehicles carrying school children and VVIPs will not be exempt. The government will also ban all construction activities and entry of trucks in to the city.
