Hi All,

At last I am now a proud owner of a 1999 Gypsy Carb converted to MPFi. You guys must be remembereing me from the MM550 restoration I did about a year back.

This time I went for an army disposal 1999 Gypsy was has been built ground up by Amanpreet from Auto Attitude in Delhi.

I took delivery of the vehicle and drove down around 3500 kms to calicut in 4 days.

The vehicle is fantastic and the road manners are impeccable. The vehicle has been cutom built as per my requirements with all creature comforts like a/c and a soft top at the back.

The drive from Delhi to Calicut was fantastic except for one section near after Vadodhra onwards to Mumbai. The entire section is undergoing construction, so took a long time. The reason I am mentioning this is because the a/c was on throughout this section and the heating did not cross the required limit.

More about the vehicle.

The front and back bumpers are custom built metal.
The seats are leather sparco lookalike.
A/C has been installed
Custom soft top with hard top in the front
Free flow exhaust
Ported and polished engine
K&N Air filter
and many more I cannot remember.

The next step remaining is to get it registered locally.

Neat job done. But one question, why is the exhaust in an odd left location?

Good looking Gypsy. Some comments:

1. The exhaust is prone to damage in that position during offroading. If you don't do off-roading then no problem

2. The front bumper is mounted about 1 - 1.5 inches too low! This will hinder your approach angle slightly.

3. You should have also recessed the fog-lamps on the front bumper like you have recessed the indicator lamps.

4. Can anyone sit in the back without rubbing against the soft top?

5. For better AC efficiency you should get an insulated partition made between front and rear cabin space.

Do you mean the half engine was changed to MPFI ?

The entire engine was changed to MPFI (2002 model)

I am not planning for any extensive off roading as of now, but will look at the exhaust and bumper reworking.

Excellent idea to get the fog lamps recessed, will get it done.

And about the aircon, am planning to get a rally cabin after the registration process. So should not be an issue after that.

BTW can you share the cost of neo 1010 & picture of their beam pattern.please:

An MPFI conversion would mean -

A MPFI Engine - fully overhauled to every bit - any mods if required
An ECM
New Wiring Harness
brake booster etc

Honestly, i was not sure how would a army disposal perform after restoration. i checked out a few rides and i was amazed. mine is a 2000 model army disposal too - restored. i am sure now after rigorous testing it is not less than a 2011 model.

i've seen this vehicle being prepared in front of me. indeed a lot of dedication has gone into it. i can't comment on the bumper as it is not any lower the OE bumper of the gypsy.

as far the exhaust is concerned, all gypsy's from north india, with FFE's have the side exhaust be it offroad or rally use.

one thing i am sure about this gypsy is that it is the fastest 413's around.

for anyone querying the neo 1010, they are the best VFM lights to go for. if you could find lispart H3 100W bulbs - this baby decimates everything. otherwise get the philips 100watt

i must say, the creations from AA are really teasing my mind to go for a gypsy rebuild rather than going for a M&M 550 or half baked thar!

I got my Gypsy done from AMAN, and he is good. Firoz's gypsy too blew the mind away, considering the many yes, no, change, no change transpired.

Have seen lot of Gypsy of his performing on our off road meets.

Good looking Gypsy:thumbs up. Is this bracket fabricated or a standard part?

Please route all your wiring's in the engine compartment properly, will look much better.

The part shown is fabricated at a local workshop in Calicut.. The original one was longer and snapped during the drive down to Calicut.

According to the mechanic this is still not a good fitment and he is fabricating a four-way bracket for a better fitment of the same part.
