Fiesta ICED

Hey guys,

After a very very long planning session I finally managed to get everything in place.

The install started late in the afternoon day before, went on till about 9.30 p.m. and was finally completed, sometime in the evening, yesterday. Got the work done from United Customz and it was a brilliant experience to say the least.

Here's a list of the stuff thats gone in :

Head Unit :

Kenwood X693

Speakers :

Front - Infinity Kappa 60.9CS
Rear - Infinity Ref 9633i

Amps :

Mono - Clarion DPX1851
4 Ch. - Harman Kardon CA470

Sub :

JBL W12Gti MKII

Wiring :

All the wires are from Scosche.

Extras :

Custom made 1 cu. ft. Sealed Enclosure for the sub.
Neons for the boot.

Initial listening experience

Head Unit
The Kenny sounds very rich and clean. I have a Pioneer 5050 in my other car and the Kenwood sounds way better in terms of SQ. The vocals are very clear. I have not figured the Head unit out completely. All I can say is that I am impressed by it.

Speakers
Both the front and the rear speakers are very clean. They are a little bright no doubt but can produce deep bass too, not that I like either. Nothing has been tuned properly as the install was completed very late. the tuning part will be done today. Even though they are not tuned and are slightly over powered they do not crack even at full volume. The vocals are very clear and I am sure they will sound much better after tuning, not that they sound bad now. The front Kappas are quite capable speakers and I loved the richness.

Sub
This is by far my best investment. I can go on and on all day bragging about the sub. For starters it can go really low and I mean it. It never misses a single beat, goes loud and delivers deep, tight bass. This is exactly what I was looking for.

As I said earlier the tuning is due today so I guess I will be able to give a better review after that or maybe once the speaker set in.

Special thanks to DjNik, United Customz, Sathee46 and Frank Mehta.

Here are some pics and a video, will upload some more by the end of the day.

Hi'

You have selected the Kenny. I too did have the experience of Sony Pioneer and Panasonic. But Ken wood is great. The thing is that mine is a small car RItz for that the Four two speakers were enough. If I go for Amp and all my all space will be sacrificed for the ICE. So compromised with Ken wood 543 which is compatible to Ritz and the KW 6" speakers. For me they are wonderful combination. Enjoy the entertainment in Fiesta with Ken, JBL and Harmon all in one.

Nice setup mate, very good choice of equipment. With all that bling I would have loved to see the Gti installed in reverse with some FG like in Franks install. Nevertheless the setup is neat, awesome and the music is what is important.

So you finally ICED your Fiesta!
Looks good installation.

imo, you should have gone for a 2 Din HU so the look/style in the dashboard/centre console would be different than the present one (one Din with a space underneath?).

So, what did you do with Stock @DIN HU?

Enjoy the sound -Drive safe !

Thank you everyone.

@ Sathee46 - that is something even I am regretting but unfortunately I cannot sacrifice much of the boot.

@ navan49 - Thanks, I agree to what you've said.

@ Mi10 - thanks man. nope, I overshot my budget by about 20K so will get it done a little later.

@ nairrk - thank you. I agree on that but I did not have that big a budget to accommodate everything and a 2 din with 3 preouts.

Breakup :

H.U. - 12500
Front Kappas - 11400
Rear Reference - 5600
Harman Kardon 4ch. - 19000
Clarion Mono - 7500
JBL Sub - 16500
Scosche Wiring - 6000-7000
Beat sensing neons - 1200

The prices of your Mono and Sub are nothing short of a steal, i should say

I agree to the fact that a FG enclosure can enhance the looks but i have personally always felt that a MDF enclosure is a better choice when it comes to high performance subs.

Fantastic. Absolutely fantastic! The same sub as mine, alongwith almost the same amp, alongwith the same car. I kinda know how this must be sounding! Cheers man!

B&T, LBM-I can see from reviews that FG enclosures can sound as good as MDF but the number of people who can make such enclosures are limited in this country, let alone kolkata. Thus the best option for mohit in the circumstances was to get a sealed MDF enclosure as niether do I have any experience working with FG and niether do i know of anyone in this city who does such work.

@ Frank - Haha, thanks man.

About the stock Head Unit, its lying in my room.

LBM & B&T - Is it true that a sealed MDF enclosure produces bass tighter than a FG enclosure. I agree with Dj. I was hell bent on mounting the sub reverse but could not figure anything out as boot space was a problem.
