Ashok Leyland DTC bus catches Fire !!

NEW DELHI: A DTC low-floor bus caught fire near Ashram Chowk in southeast Delhi around 8.30 am on Tuesday. There were 45 passengers in the bus. No one was injured.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the engine may have overheated causing the fire. The vehicle was just two months old and had clocked a little over 1,000 km, police said.

‘‘The bus was on its way to Faridabad from Kashmere Gate ISBT when the driver noticed sparks flying out of the engine near the Ashram flyover,’’ said a senior police officer.

The driver realised that the wheels had got jammed. He opened the door and let out all the passengers. But a crane had to be called to pull the bus out of traffic, the police said.

The crane took half-an-hour to pull the bus to the side of the road, leading to traffic jams in the morning.

Intrestingly the name of the manufacturer was not mentioned. A photo was published in the print edition, but the same was missing on the web edition. This I think is the third case where the name of manufacturer is not published and all these buses are from Ashok Leyland.

I fail to understand why the media makes so much of noice when it happens with a TATA vehical and hide the manufacturers name in other cases.

Spot on, that was the first thing that caught my eye in the pic this morning - ANOTHER Ashok Leyland

And yet, the TATA bashing continues!!!
