Re: The new Mercedes M-Class (W164) launched - Starting at Rs. 56,90,000

What a pointless launch, The car does not have the LED Lights / Intelligent light system, does not have rear seat entertainment pack, No Panorama sun roof which now is a standard norm in SUV's / SAV's, No Off Road Pro pack which was present earlier,

And who at MB India thought India needs heated Seats and not Ventilated Seats?
And lastly enough with the Brown Interiors, They did it with the CLS and now ML too,

Lets hope the CKD models are better equipped and lastly 250CDI will be out by October / November.

Seems that Mercedes has managed to sell all the launch editions of the new M Class. The normal version is now more than Rs. 9L cheaper. That's also 4.5L cheaper than the LC Prado. Comparatively good value now, IMO.

Er, I had the "pleasure" of experiencing a long highway ride in an Audi Q7 on a highway a year ago, and the peak summer heat percolating through the sunroof made the AC system feel little better than a desk fan in terms of effectiveness. Sunroofs may be greater in milder climates but in the north Indian summer with temperatures above 40 degrees they are suicidal (IMHO).

Other than that the Q7 was awesome on the highway

Well,

Chances are to save costs Q7 uses the same unit as a Polo,

Getting back to topic seriously, the panorama roof has a mat below it, and when its in place the AC works absolutely well, I live in extremely hot weather too and Mercedes ML and GLs with pano roof do their job absolutely fine, or maybe something was wrong with the AC at that time,

I'm not some crazy fan of sun roofs but some times its a good thing to have esp. When it can be provided at this price and others do too,

The Indian market's fascination with SUVs continues:

· The third generation M-Class has already sold more than 3 times, compared to last year. Mercedes sold 175 units of the new M-Class in the first month itself.

· The Company has grown by 10% in the month of June amidst impending slowdown and rising fuel costs.

I hope you are talking about dealer dispatches. As most dealers still have inventory of both models, sad thing is the regular edition looks a lot better with it's Intelligent lights compared to the Designo Ed. Which is almost 10 lac more,

Also to compare sales of current ML with previous is not exactly the best, considering how bad the previous ML was.

Anyone buying the ML opt for the regular edition, it's better loaded and 10L cheaper On road.
