re: Latest ASEAN NCAP Test Results - 5* for Prius, 4* for Swift, Sunny, Pajero Sport & Vento

Truly a gem of a car in terms of safety. Every time I close the door of my VW Polo GT TSI, the solid thud I hear is just priceless. It gives me a feeling that I am sitting inside a solidly built machine and with airbags, ABS and traction control, my family is always safe.

VW may have been indulged in their share of bad deeds, but when it comes to safety they are doing a great job.

Regards

Saubhik

Chances are that both the export cars and the made for India cars are the same. I don't think it's viable to make a different structure for India as the nos they sell here are peanuts compared to what they export( <24000 for India vs >60000 for export). I hope I'm proved right.

As per an IAB report I read yesterday the Malasyian Vento has 4 airbags.

I really hope the Indian Vento gets 6 airbags like the Jetta. What is the additional cost for this? I guess consumers would be willing to pay for it.

Vento's sold in Malaysia are in 3 variants.

Trendline loses on 2 side airbags and hence the airbag count is TWO.

Comfortline and Highline retain FOUR airbags, but only the range-topping model gets stability control and hill-hold assist.

The Highline is now having a five-star ASEAN NCAP safety rating.

VW might be labeled whatever the tongues of their detractors please, but even they agree that they make great cars. The cocooned feeling that my Polo gives when I drive him is priceless. The way the car hugs the road in twisties is magical. They might be a lot of things but to me, they make the best cars that I can afford right now.

VW builds not cars but pleasure machines and their service which was their weak point is not improving by leaps and bounds.

VW with their constant improvement will go a long way in India.
