Patent images of the next-generation Isuzu MU-X have surfaced online.



According to the patent images, the MU-X has been given a completely new front fascia with chrome slats and slim headlamp clusters. The front bumper has been redesigned with fog lamp pods positioned at the ends. The MU-X has flared wheel arches, slim, wraparound tail lamp clusters and a rear bumper with integrated reflectors.



The Isuzu MU-X shares its ladder frame chassis with the D-Max pickup truck. In India, the current-generation model is powered by a 3.0-litre, 4-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine which produces 174 BHP @ 3,600 rpm and 380 Nm of torque @ 1,800-2,800 rpm. The engine is mated to a 5-speed automatic transmission and a shift-on-the-fly four-wheel drive system.



At the moment, Isuzu has halted sales of the MU-X as the SUV is yet to receive a BS6-compliant engine.

Liked the 3 quarter front and rear view and it looks great. The head on design seem to be a bit skewed. But, whoever has leaked these patent images has to be sent to jail. A teams hard work has been ruined here. He/She has robbed the first look feel.

Oh dear! This looks so much like the current MUX. I won’t call it anything more than a facelift. Such kind of evolutionary approach to styling is not going to work in front of the Fortuner and Endeavour. Isuzu needs to up the game if it wants to more forward from being the bits and pieces player it currently is.

I heard it is coming back in BS6 guise with the 1.9 from the V-cross.

Next-gen Isuzu MU-X launched in Thailand

Isuzu has launched the next generation MU-X in Thailand.



The new MU-X is longer, wider and taller than the outgoing model. It measures 4,850 mm in length, 1,870 mm in width, 1,875 mm in height and its wheelbase is 2,855 mm. The SUV has a ground clearance of 235 mm.

The new MU-X gets a redesigned front fascia with chrome slats and slim headlamp clusters. It has a new front bumper with fog lamp pods positioned at the ends, flared wheel arches, and an updated rear fascia with new tail lights while the bumper gets integrated reflectors.



The interior of the MU-X is finished in a dual-tone theme. It features a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity and a 4.2-inch MID. Some notable features include dual-zone automatic climate control, 8-way adjustable driver's seat, Terrain Command Shift-on-fly, Automatic High Beam, adaptive cruise control, 6 airbags and ADAS system.

In Thailand, the Isuzu MU-X is offered with a 1.9-litre turbo diesel engine that produces 148 BHP @ 3,600 rpm and 350 Nm @ 1,800-2,600 rpm. The engine is mated to a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic transmission. The SUV also comes with a 3.0-litre diesel unit that puts out 187 BHP @ 3,600 rpm and 450 Nm @ 1,600-2,600 rpm. This engine is paired with a 6-speed automatic gearbox and comes with all-wheel drive.

I guess, Isuzu India will keep sourcing all the left over body kits from the rest of the world, sell the older model in India and we will get this in 2030. I hope they have exhausted the inventory of 5-Speed automatic gearboxes. When the rest of the world got the 6-Speed ASIN in the MUX, in India they continued to exhaust their stock of 5-Speed ASIN gearboxes.

Oh god, not again. I feel like they just want to dump these old units in India. Isuzu seems to be so lacklustre in their approach to India which isn’t good for a new company, unlike Kia which came in all guns blazing.

You’re right in saying they won’t launch it anytime soon. God knows, we might get it by the time this new model gets discontinued.

The leaked Patent images shows the latest MUX which is Globally available. But I won't read much into the news. From Patenting to actual vehicle for sale is a long journey. My best bet would be they will launch the current shape in BS-6 and replace it with the all new by 2021 end.

The all new is just not a facelift, It's a completely new model both for MUX and V-cross.

Yes Isuzu is slow but they will launch the all new models sooner than later due to huge investment they have made in India.

Sadly, India will not get the updated model that is changed inside out. However, the same generation MUX carries forward for BS6. This was the 4x4 automatic version.
