Hyundai Grand Avega unveiled at IIMS 2011 - the i20 successor of the future?

The all-new Hyundai Grand Avega has debuted at the 2011 Indonesia International Motor Show.

Combining the front of the new "Fluidic" Verna with the rear of the i20 (somewhat), it's a 5-door hatchback version of the B-segment Hyundai Accent with Euro face styling.

In Indonesia, the Grand Avega is equipped with a 1.4 liter engine mated to a choice of either a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic.

Will Hyundai bring the Grand Avega to India to succeed as a refreshing facelift to it's 3-year old i20? With Hyundai's recent obsession of the "Fluidic" design, which has powered the new Verna's sales to the top of the charts, and unveiling the new Sonata/i45 on the same "Fluidic" design platform which is set to hit Indian shores sometime in 2012, it might be a very viable option for Hyundai, when the best-selling i20 is due for a future facelift.

This thread might need to go into the International Auto thread.

Why is that I feel the interiors are slightly cheap? The gear knob gives a very ordinary looks, so is the dash and the console too.

I personally feel the Fluidic look in the front suits this hatchback more than the ANHV. The rear is not that visually appealing. Interiors seem too dull and monotonous. The centre console looks a bit cheap as does the gear.
However, I love the alloys and the red color!!

This is the hatchback version of the fluidic verna, called as accent hatch in the US.

I have to agree that Hyundai are making good looking cars these days. But its becoming a bit monotonous don't you think ? Atleast the front end.

I quite did not like the Rear end. The interiors are no where close to what the present i20 offers (Both in terms of looks and the Quality, Be it the gear knob, the dash or the Power window buttons). I think the interiors are of the Base model. Even the present i20 in its base model has a similar looking gear knob IIRC.

See, it maybe monotonous but I think this car, if launched in India, would be priced as a competitor to the Jazz (not considering the recent price revision of the Jazz) & I would definitely pick this over the Jazz. Also, Hyundai would surely have a good diesel motor for this unlike Honda. Maybe they will offer both the 1.4 & the 1.6 from the fluidic verna. How fun would a 1.6 be on this car...!
