The gap between VW and GM which is about 150,000 units now, was over 220,000 units last year.

Thanks for the link . Apart from that GM's sales figures include GM-SAIC-Wuling tin cans, which sell in very high number. If you ask me, there is nothing GM in these high selling chinese cars and there fore should not be counted. So in my mind, VW is definitely selling more cars than GM.

Fred Crawford, CEO of AlixPartners discusses about GM's turnaround in Bloomberg TV Interview.

Must say, it's been 5 years since Bankruptcy and GM is back and running. The current product line especially NA, China, EU and other South American countries is competitive than ever before.

Impala: "The most dramatic turnaround yet is the phoenix like rise of the revamped Chevrolet Impala" - Consumer Reports, Highest rated car by CR after Telsa Model S

Cruze: A perfect package which brought in much needed volumes when GM still working on making it's balance sheet right.

Sonic, Spark: Clocking unexpected numbers, Who said small cars wouldn't sell in NA? It's all about the product and it's packaging.

I must say, Mark Reuss(GMNA President) is "the man".

GM still #1 in China and in the top 3 in the US.

Recently they announced a remedy to fix one of their weak links which is small 4 cyl engines. A new family of small 4 cyl engine called SGE and has DI+turbo.

Has been launched in the Opel Cascada and Adam this summer & will proliferate across the lineup over the next couple of years. DSG is also in the works for small cars, ie B, C & C+ segments

The very same engine (1.6T) is going to be used in Volt/Ampera gen2. The only issue is Opel/Vaux which has a great product but poor balance sheet. Lets hope the ex vw employee(karl?) which now heads the company will fix it.
