Canadian Agribition show - Regina, SK

I happen to attend the 2010 Canadian Agribition show here in Regina, Saskatchewan yesterday 28 Nov 2009. Agricultural exhibition and trade show which includes livestock sales, educational exhibits, agricultural technology and services and it is held annualy in Regina.

It was more focussed on the scientific agriculture advances but they also showed some slick trucks and SUV's and they were showing 2010 Toyota 4Runner which I am planning to buy sometime soon and they did allow me to test drive trail edition.

I went with few of my friends from work and some of my friends from University of Regina. It was overall a great experience being there. The gates opened at 9 a.m but we went at 2 p.m after lunch.
We couldnt stay there for too long as my friends had a plan to watch 4:30 p.m show for 2012 movie which I have already seen. So I just stayed there for another half an hour and really enjoyed the great show

All the time I was trying to compare 4Runner with Indian Fortunner.
No doubt Fotunnner looks awesome but as compared to 4Runner it looks more on the softer side. 4Runner just looked brutal and a serious beast and specially the Trail edition that I test drove was one hack of a machine.

The Toyota person who was with me during the test drive had no trouble in me pushing the machine to the limit. I took it to a ground which was full of snow engaged 4*4 and it was all pedal to the metal turned the steering all the way to the right and it was spinning like crazy and snow was just flying all around, how I wish somebody could have taken my picture while I was doing that crazy stunt in that brand new 4Runner.

There are only 2 2010 Toyota 4Runner available in Canada at this time and both of them were in Regina yesterday. I cant get more lucky then this that I put my hands on both of them.

I was more focussed on 4Runner but Toyota also had Sequoia, Venza and Tacoma on display. The only other exhibitor was Ford which had 250, 350, Taurus and F-150 Raptor on display. Raptor was just looking awesome in orange..

Pics coming soon....

Great scoop! Love the pictures and the write up!

As for the 4Runner, I'd somehow prefer the Fortuner. I know the 4Runner looks brilliant and all but it's a bit too straight! Too many straight lines for my liking! It does look pretty futuristic though! One observation though, don't you think those tires look a bit skinny?

I'm sure the 4Runner's looks would grow on me eventually!

I guess Toyota decided to go for skinny tires to reduce the fuel consumption but there could be some more technical reasons connected to it.

I will upgrade the tires on mine to a bigger size..

Yeah the 4Runner looks pretty butch. Although the nose looks copied straight from the new Mitsubishis. One of the better looking Toyotas around. Especially after what they did to the contraption known as the Venza.

What kind of a 4WD system does this have?

There is no V4 for Canadian market like in states and thanks to Toyota for that. Its more rugged, delivering better fuel effeciency and more safety featuers then the 4th generation.

Toyota has kept his tradition of body on frame while not moving towards a uniframe construction like many other manufacturers have done.

The newest 4Runner is taller, wider and longer for 2010, and is available in a variety of configurations. It will be offered in one well-equipped V6 SR5 base model with four option packages: the Upgrade package, the Trail Edition for those who require maximum off-road capability, the luxuriously appointed Limited package, and the top-of-the-line Limited with Navigation package.

The standard drivetrain is a full-time multi-mode 4x4 with a locking centre differential. All models are equipped with a 4.0-litre V6 mated to a five-speed Super ECT-i automatic transmission. Third-row seats in the Limited and Limited with Navigation packages allow for up to seven-person capacity.

The Trail Edition is designed to maximize off-road performance with a superior approach and departure angles, high ground clearance, and an array of functional upgrades for the most demanding active outdoor enthusiast. It can be distinguished by a unique hood scoop, unique 17-inch wheels, grille, black outer mirrors, front and rear bumper guards, chrome headlamps, and dark smoke treatment on the head and tail lamps

Ah, nice to see somebody from Saskatchewan on TBHP. Go for 4Runner, its an excellent vehicle inside out . Nice pictures as well. Though I heard that there is no V8 option in 2010 models but newer 4.0 litre V6 compensate that by producing 10 BHP more than old V8.

Off topic, but just finished watching Roughriders game against Montreal and they lost Grey cup in last 5 seconds of the game.

Yeah no doubt its a great vechicle the only thing that bothers me is the tire size its 17 inch on the trail edition. If I get one I will upgrade it to sweet 20 inch.

Yeah man moved from Vancouver to Regina almost 8 months ago and liking it here.

I am not too much into football but it was a sad news that RoughRiders lost the game yesterday.

That Ford F 150 Raptor looks brutal! And so does the 250 and 350 (?) Man, imagine those cars, oops sorry, trucks in India! Brilliant sight! Someone should import them. It will silence the Hummer lovers for a while!

The Taurus looks good too! It would give the Superb and Passat a run for their money for sure! Pity we can't have these machines in India!
