Reg the OVRM, is it the just the paint which is gone or the OVRM is damaged, I mean the mirror part. is MASS replacing the outer body of the OVRM?
Thanks Ghodlur! The outer casing had broken. They replaced the entire thing. It costed me 1887 rupees. 987 for the mirror and 900 for painting. Had driven to my village yesterday and there onwards to Khatu Shyamji (a famous temple near Jaipur). The roads were badly damaged due to heavy rains. Dzire had a fall in a crater. The front bumper got impacted. Has come loose. Taking it to MASS for fitment.

dushmish, it was a nice write-up. I have couple of queries though,

Is Michelline puncture prone? How did it perform in this area when compared to the stock JK Vectra?

Have you done any mods or used any converters to use USB?

Hi Arun,

Thanks! My experience with Michelin has been fantastic. And I know of others too, who share the same feeling. It is way too silent and more comfortable than stock Vectra. And no, it is not puncture prone. I did a trip to Laddakh and I drive on non existent Mumbai roads. My Michelins have completed 76,500 km. The tread is still deeper than the markers that tell, its time to change the tires. The tires (ride) have gone hard though (only as hard as Stock Vectras). I shall be changing them some time soon.

I have not done any mods to use a USB. I stick to MP3 CDs. You may check in the ICE forum, am sure people would have done tricks to listen to USB.

Cheers,

Dushyant

WOW 76,500 kms and still tread left? Really long lasting compound, and I thought that one can get high mileage tyres OR good grip but not both. You seem to have the best of both worlds there.

Heck, I can't believe they are holding up for so long.

I have clocked 16k and my A drives have only half the threads left. I guess they might pack up somewhere near 40-45k km.

: Long time, no see. How you been? Good to hear from you.

. I remember you changing your tires a short while ago. How long did they last? 40k km?

Sachin my A drives were about 23k km old and had 4 mm of thread left, new ones have 8 mm. so similar to yours. now I have crappy MRF ZVTV. Amazing life dushmish has with his michelins. Or maybe during the time he was in the dark continent, the old ones died and some one replaced them with another set.

re: Maruti Dzire ZDi - 115,000 kms & 5 yrs. Plans for cosmetic changes

Hi GoanDude,

My drive to Jaipur and back was great. The road (NH8) is fantastic to drive on. I do this stretch at least once a year. Mumbai Jaipur is a morning evening drive.

Hello Sachin,

You can come and see the tread for yourself. Wish someone was kind enough to have changed the tires while I was away. The ride, as I have already mentioned, has gone hard though. Time to change.

But anyway guys, your tires seem to be lasting too less. Do you people rotate them every 5000 km?

The rest of Dzire is doing great as well. Completed 85,500 yesterday.

Keep driving guys!

Yup,I do it at every 5000km. Nope, they are normal. Most BHPians have posted their tires have lasted anywhere between 35-45k. So, its just you who got lucky. And considering the price of each tire, you shouldn't be complaining either.

You seem to live your life more in the car than outside it! When I sell my car,I doubt I would have clocked so much. He He..

Edit: Can you post a pic of the thread on the tire?

re: Maruti Dzire ZDi - 115,000 kms & 5 yrs. Plans for cosmetic changes

A fantastic long term report on the DZire!

I am planning to buy the new DZire ZDi and was hoping if you could please clarify a few points for me.

1) In your work commute in Mumbai, you indicated that you were getting 14-5 to 16.5 kmpl. Could you confirm if this is with 100% AC?

2) Do you idle on standstill when starting / before shutting off? Or do you just take it easy for the first few kms./last few kms.?

3) Do you switch off the engine during long Mumbai's traffic lights/traffic jams? If

4) you continue to do the Prabhevi commute, I am sure you would have encountered jams on the W.E. Highway atleast on the return journey. Do you find these affect the FE significantly? What is the worst FE you have got on a city commute?

Your answers would be very helpful to me, as I too am in Mumbai, and am planning to buy the same car.

Thanks Anup for the appreciation!

The milage is with 100% AC. The lower end of spectrum was when my driver drove it. When I drive, the lowest I get is 15 kmpl and the highest I get in WE traffic jams is 16.5

I idle it for 30 seconds before starts. I go easy on the last leg of the drive. And idle it for about 15 seconds before stops.

No I dont start stop at signals. The engine is always running. I used to do it with my petrol cars but with this one I have not done.

It is a great car is what I will tell you. The new one even looks smarter. Go ahead and enjoy the drive.

Please feel free to ask any more things that you may want to ask.

Regards,
D

re: Maruti Dzire ZDi - 115,000 kms & 5 yrs. Plans for cosmetic changes

Hi dushmish,
I belong to bikaner but would be passing through jaipur in a few days on way to bikaner and since i would be staying there and my Dzire too has completed 80k Km and that too in 3yrs ...so I was thinking of getting the car serviced in Jaipur before moving for bikaner (a drive of 300+ kms). So could you tell me about a good dealership(tried and tested) in Jaipur where I can get it serviced.
And secondly based on your experience, what all should I keep in mind during the service.

Hey Inder,

KP Automotive is a good place to get your car serviced. Just stick to the regular service as proposed by your car's manual. at 80k the service will be major one with a lot of oils being changed. ACC (automatic climate control) servicing will be a good idea. And brakes and suspension check. Have a lovely drive through the desert!

Cheers,
D

Investing more in Dzire at 5 years and 115000 km

My Dzire is completing 5 years in Nov. Current odo reading is 115240 km. Has scratches and minor dents on body. Some have started to show first signs of rust. The bumpers have some of the locks broken so they come loose. The front windscreen has a crack (not covered under insurance as there was a gap in renewal). The rear suspension seems to have worn out. The car seems lower at the rear then ever.

I am planning to give the car for a major service tomorrow at Spectra Borivali. They will evaluate the car and give me an estimate for all the body work, painting, suspension work and a whistling sound the turbo makes on high RPM (2100 and more).

They will then speak to insurer to get most of the things covered in insurance. I am not sure how much of it can be covered. They plan to keep the car for about 7 days for all the work.

The list of work I plan to get done is as below:
1. Denting and painting
2. bumper repair. If required put new bumpers.
3. Front wind screen replacement
4. Suspension work
5. New high security number plates (not from spectra though)
6. MGA reversing sensors
7. Transparent sun film (not decided which one). Need suggestions.
8. Electrical check-up. Nothing wrong right now.

All well will the engine and the rest of the car as it has been serviced regularly. Everything is in prime condition. This is more a cosmetic thing that I am getting done. Also planning to use semi-synth oil for engine now onwards. Any suggestions, which is a good one?

Hey dushyant, long time

Do take a competitive quote from a specialist body shop outside of Maruti. I believe they will do a better job at lower prices.

And why semi-synth now ? If it ain't broke, why fix it ?

re: Maruti Dzire ZDi - 115,000 kms & 5 yrs. Plans for cosmetic changes

I am not sure of a good trustworthy workshop in Mumbai. Waiting for someone to recommend some good ones. Almost all panels except the roof need to be touched up or painted. So it better be done by a specialist. Budget is of course a constraint.

Semi-synth is more a pampering thought. Else mineral is good.
