I prefer the Z4 anytime over the other two! Its got so much character and looks so butch. Definitely a man's car! Plus one of the only sports cars available in the world with a true blooded front mounted In-line 6!!

The Boxter may be in all possibility be better and more involving to drive, but somehow I'd have the Z4 anyday.

Very personal opinion, but I hate the new SLK. I liked only the previous one. Even before that they seemed too boring.

Okay, I haven't owned any of them. So I have no experience with them. But, if I were you, I would go for the 981. (Based on deep analysis of auto sites, other reviewers and pictures.)

Just checked out the slk before a bit and really liked it. Heard a lot about the Z4 ride quality and definitely want to be able to enjoy long drives in relative comfort (I understand it's a roadster and all...) I also personally didn't like the slk much when I saw it online but I had a different opinion when I saw it in person. I am very concerned about Boxster parts etc related issues, not sure how rational that view is...

Hi, we're in the market for a new car. Want something exciting / gratifying. Have narrowed it down to Boxster, SLC 43, Z4, TT, E400 Cab, C300 Cab, A5 Cab. Doesn’t have to be a convertible, also open to other ideas. Want something that puts a big smile on your face for years to come. What would be your pick?

It has to be the Boxster although at a premium

SLC 43 is relatively dull but more practical. Will not hold its value

Audi TT - nice to look at, fabulous grip but a bit benign behind the wheel

E400/C300/A5 cab - only if you need 4 seats, else they are pure cruisers

Pure raw sin? - consider the Mustang!

If you can wait for the new 2019 BMW Z4, then that may be the best option now.
It is getting great reviews, and most reviewers feel that it is a more rounded offering than the Porsche, and easier and better to live with. A very big upgrade over the previous car.

It is also newer, with much better electronics, and to me, better looking.
(The infotainment electronics will get online upgrades - much like your phone or computer - a first from any manufacturer)
