Mod Note : Please continue the discussion on the Trigger Unveiling Thread.
Had the opportunity to be part of a survey on 150-180cc motorbikes today which consisted of two sessions - one to understand your taste and knowledge on bikes (objective type) and the other to gather your opinion on a certain unnamed bike that is about to be launched.
The first session was a brief one and normal questions relating to your bike, styling, parts, cost quotient, etc. were asked. Would like to present a few points from the Demo session:
1. 5 bike models were presented (FZ-S, RTR 160, CBZ Xtreme, Pulsar 150 and the unnamed bike) and their On-road prices were mentioned.
2. The features of each bike were discussed turn by turn.
3. The surveyor quizzed about our inclination to pay for advanced technologies in our bike, inclusive of 'CBS' (Honda?), single braking system, mono shock suspension, etc.
4. The unnamed bike was presented in black coloring with a displacement of 150cc:
- visor unit was identical to the FZ series (minus the crest) or can be related to Pulsar 200NS visor type;
- meter console was fully digital with two buttons at each end for setting the time and the trips. Setup was similar to the CBR 150 console but instead of being semi-circular, it was semi-horizontal;
- fuel tank was very much identical to the muscular fuel tank pattern of the FZ series;
- seat was not split type but was spacious enough to be comfortable;
- gas reservoir suspension;
- exhaust idea can be described as a copy of the FZ muffler type again;
- had kick as well as self start;
- front tire was disc but rear was drum; however, presenter provided that it'll have a rear disc option as well. Rear tire was 100 / 90 x 18 (identical to CBZ) but tubeless;
- rear lighting panel was similar to the CBR 150 but the lighting unit was identical to a Suzuki GS 150R.
5. Opinion was taken on as to what price it would be suitably priced, underpriced and overpriced;
6. Presenter wanted opinion as to which company this bike may belong to; on answering as "Yamaha" it was clear from his expression that I may not be on the right track;
7. On asking about launch date, was answered affirmative to "March";
8. After completion, happened to quiz some other members of the survey team as to the origin of the bike and was affirmed as "Honda" (with a request not to divulge)
So, yeah - it adds up to Honda but I would say that the frame resembles the Suzuki GS 150R a lot. Attaching an image of the GS below to indicate the framework.
