The 2020 Isuzu D-Max has been awarded a 5-star safety rating by Euro NCAP. The test vehicle was a left-hand drive Crew Cab 1.9L diesel variant.



The D-Max scored 32.2 points or 84% for adult occupant safety and 42.2 points or 86% for child occupant safety. The passenger compartment remained stable in the offset frontal test. It scored maximum points in the side pole impact test.



The Euro-spec D-Max comes equipped with autonomous emergency braking (AEB) system that can detect vulnerable road users. It was awarded 37.6 points or 69% for pedestrian and cyclist protection.

The D-Max scored 13.4 points or 83% for safety assists. Besides AEB, which is standard fitment, the pick-up also comes with a driver monitoring system which uses steering and camera inputs to identify whether the driver is alert and warns the driver if impaired driving is detected. The lane support system corrects the steering of the car if it is drifting out of the lane, while a camera based traffic sign recognition system identifies the local speed limit.

What an achievement. A pickup truck trumping so many SUVs. Isuzu is one of the most underrated manufacturers. Great products, superb reliability but limited reach. Hope they succeed in India beyond the niche segment.

Is that an airbag in between the front seats (between the driver and passenger) as well? If it is then it’s definitely helpful in a side impact.

This looks to be a Right-hand drive vehicle. Steering is on the right side and the name 'ISUZU' is not mirrored in the above image.

Appears that the video has both the vehicles (left hand and right hand driving).

Fantastic achievement for a pickup truck. And the front look is, pretty intimidating. Well done Isuzu. Wish they had better success in indian market. One of my friends bought dmax for around 7 odd lakhs and it was pretty reliable. The diesel mill offered for that money was head and shoulders above the competition.

Not surprised ! The D-max is a proper truck and a behemoth vehicle compared to other vehicles on road here in India.

It has proper good dimensions, and an imposing look. Just imagine seeing a jacked up D-Max in your rear mirrors.

Excellent news & I'm pleasantly surprised because I don't count Isuzu among the top-tier MNC car brands at all, and they do have limited resources. Well done, Isuzu! I sure hope your Indian cars don't get watered down.
