wow, ok. The internet... I've been using broadband for more than 4 years now. Right now, I got a Hathway connection which is a 512kbps line and i'm charged 750/- bucks a month + tax, which arrives to a total of 827/- a month. Unlimited downloads.... Use bearshare for all the music and movies..... Awesome speeds, great connection..... and this connection does not require me to have a modem.

I used the limited download service via modem with Hathway before I got on to unlimited plans, and that suck** big time... I used to get huge bills everymonth... But the one I have right now is a goldmine

hey Ajay!

You seem to have a great package. But it is not there on the hathway website. Is it a specially negotiated package?

Does MTNL do speed throttling in their unlimited plans?

I use somewhere between 0.8 to 1.3 GB per month. Any idea what would be the best plan for me if I go through MTNL?

Also I have a Type 4 Modem UTStarcom WA3002g4 which I had got earlier from BSNL. Would this same modem work with MTNL also?

re: MTNL and BSNL's combo plan for broadband

Had been on the 999 ULD plan for quite some time now. Advantage of this plan was the 400 free calls. But now moving to the 845 CS49 plan, with the basic 195 plan for land line connections. I am not expecting the bill to increase much, since the 400 free calls on my old plan are for BSNL own network calls only, while a good % of our calls are to other networks too.

Note: the 4MB for 30GB is promotional for some more time. The standard package is 4M for 20GB for this plan.

re: MTNL and BSNL's combo plan for broadband

BSNL has a few new plans. Have moved to their 1091 plan which gives 8 Mbps for 60 GB. This is not a combo plan and modem / free calls not included. Gave a letter to the Commercial officer of the local exchange for this, and the change was done in about 3-4 hours.

Note: does not seem to be listed on their webpage yet. Was at the exchange for a small support I wanted, and the person there give this information.

Speed test shows 5.51 mbps download & 700kbps upload.

Re: BSNL BroadBand Issues

Good news at last for BSNL Broadband users. Since 1st August 2016, BSNL has increased its post FUP limit speed as "upto 1 Mbps" from "512 Kbps" .

FUP limits have also been increased. I have BB Combo 675 plan and its 1 GB FUP limit is now 2 GB.

Here is the link to latest BSNL unlimited plan list:

http://www.bsnl.in/opencms/bsnl/BSNL...ess_speed.html

Note for Mods: I could not find casual discussion thread on BSNL Broadband hence posting here. Request you to move this post to appropriate thread, if any such thread exists.

This will be even better news for you assuming you are in Pune and don't care about 100 free calls
http://maharashtra.bsnl.co.in/mhschemes/Pune_bb1.pdf
₹645 per month 10 GB @4mbps & 1mbps thereafter.
Knew this from the back of bill in Feb. Now its on bsnl Maharashtra website http://maharashtra.bsnl.co.in on front page. There are similar plans for nashik and kalyan too.

For a moment I jumped in excitement thinking they have made 4 Mbps as the standard speed even if one exhausts their FUP limits.

But no, it's still 1 Mbps, if we go by the chart in that website.

Re: MTNL and BSNL's combo plan for broadband

:-)

They still have a long way to go before they come close to the configurations that other service providers have. However, I still go with them because when a problem happens, there is a person who I can meet. Not a name-less, faceless agent who hides behind a phone number. Also, the people maintaining the copper network in our area have been good & responsive. Fibre network has mostly been steady, unless there has been a cable break (which mostly have been due to other reasons)

Re: MTNL and BSNL's combo plan for broadband

BSNL combo plans above of 600 Rs & above per month have a STV offer for voice calls:

Rs 48 voucher gives unlimited calls to local circle (Same state)
Rs 98 voucher gives unlimited calls across the country.

Conditions:
1) BB plan of Rs 600 & above
2) Calls can be upto 300 unique numbers. (basically to avoid commercial use of the plans).

Re: MTNL and BSNL's combo plan for broadband

Guys, can anybody please confirm this news? Says BSNL has increased the post FUP speed for its broadband users to 2 Mbps from the earlier 1 Mbps. I am not at home currently, hence can't verify.

BSNL has upgraded the speed for many plans the 649 mark to 4 Mpbs. The link you have given looks contradicting itself (title vs content).

The 4 Mbps speed is only till the first 5 GB of usage (FUP) and then the speed drops to 1 Mbps beyond that, if we take the example of 675/- plan.

But what the article says that now BSNL will give 2 Mbps speed after our first 5 GB of usage i.e. double from the earlier 1 Mbps.

Re: MTNL and BSNL's combo plan for broadband

Oops ! I mixed up the post-FUP speed with the regular speed. Got to check that part.
