Fatal Accident near Tumkur (Goa-Bangalore)

In a major road mishap, 7 people among 11 people returning from Goa were killed as their Tempo Traveller and a lorry collided head-on on on Tumkur-Tiptur Highway at around 9:45 am on 25 Oct 2006. This happened just half hour after they had stopped for breakfast.

The deceased, were working in various companies in Bangalore. They were returning from a holiday trip to Goa. The dead included 3 newly married couples (+ Driver), and the 4 survivors are bachelors. All the kids traveling were Coorgies and two couples that died are my own brothers-in-law. All the 3 couples were married this year. The survivors are all in different hospitals with serious injuries.

The accident took place due to rash and negligent driving. One negligent driver wiped out almost all my best friends and family.

My heartfelt condolences to Victims ,

Scene is getting seriously bad on highways . H.Police needs to get their act together to reduce accidents . They should always try to divide the road between ongoing and incoming traffic where the road is sufficiently wide .This can save a lot of fatalities.

A collision with an oncoming traffic can be disastrous as the effective speed of collision is the sum of opposite speeds of the vehicles .
