Finally a McLaren which is here to stay.

The black 720S looks swell, hope to see it soon during the upcoming Derby Season. I hope the owner gets the wheels painted black, I am sure it would look sinister.

I am not too fond of the interior spec though !

India could finally get its first McLaren dealership, as the British sportscar manufacturer looks to expand its presence across the globe. The company is planning to enter the country – which already has other popular sportscar marques such as Ferrari, Lamborghini, Aston Martin, Maserati and Porsche – in 2018.

Rumour: McLaren planning to setup dealership in Delhi

In October 2017, it was reported that McLaren was planning to enter the Indian market and setup its first dealership. The British supercar brand has been in talks with Select Cars Delhi, which is the official dealer for brands like Ferrari, Lamborghini, Rolls Royce, BMW, Mini and Aston Martin in the capital. However, there has been no official announcement regarding this.



Recently, India's first right-hand drive 720S was delivered in Pune. Besides this, a couple of left-hand drive 720S' have already been imported into the country on a temporary basis. While, the 720S is part of the Super Series, the Sports Series is brand's entry-level line up which includes the 540C, 570GT, 570S Coupe and 570S Spider.

In India, McLaren sports cars are expected to be priced upwards of Rs. 2 crore. According to previous reports, McLaren is targeting to sell 10 units annually in India.

A birdie has it that the Bagla's of Exclusive Motors are getting it.
Private import route afaik like they do for Bentleys currently and like they did for Lamborghinis earlier prior to Lamborghini India being setup.

With so many collectors, owners having tried to privately import Mclarens in India and with with most of them failing. The Bagla's definitely have enough credentials to get this work started.

80's-90's they introduced India to Mercs, BMWs, Audi's, Porsches via the private route
Early 2000's they introduced India to Lamborghinis and Bentleys via the private route
And I guess now it's time for Mclaren

That could potentially be a suicidal move from McLaren's part then.

We've all seen how things ended when Ferrari/Maserati and later Lamborghini tried this private route. Ended up tarnishing the brand's reputation so much that they themselves had to step in and take over.

I say since McLaren is a brand shrouded in excitement at the moment with a hot current and future line-up, this would be the right time if any for their official Indian debut instead of these petty water testing tactics.

In the Coupé guise, finished in McLaren Orange and Stealth Pack, I'd say this one's specced a lot better than the Pune 720.

I believe the car is headed to one of the big Kolkata garages.

Yes, apparently going to the richest Indian's garage.

Ironic how the actual billionaires are going for bogo standard LXi specs, the only thing fancy I could see on the car was the color. No optional anything, that too a 540C, like seriously?

Agreed on that. But from what I have heard, the family is dead against supercars. That quite explains the slew of luxe barges and sleepers that they have in the garage. However, a McLaren isn't a bad start at all for a supercar!

Keeping the billionaire owner quotient seperate, the 540c makes a lot of sense considering its roughly 40-50L on-road cheaper than than the 570s with nearly identifical kit and it is a good number of suitcases lesser than the 720S.

Plus the fun quotient on the 540c is highly spoken for. Looks heavenly like a full bodied supercar. Gets you in the super car league for way lesser than the 488 and 50L+ less than than the Huracan.

I would say, go for it than a R8 at the same price.
