Electronic Ignition for Maruti 800 carb model - Need Advise

Hi guys, came across an ad some time back, in the mags, about a Co. that claims to have developed an electronic ignition for carburetted Maruti 800 (the Co. name goes by 'Eureka' or so). The system, they say, would enhance the performance of the car, also providing fail-safe service.
My question: Do any of you have an idea on this? Please comment.

Maybe you are talking about a contact-less distributor? Surely not a full fledged ECU?

hey , the ignition system basically uses the same coil and other stuff...only the distributor is changed from the old mechanical to a contact less system which has magnetic pick up points, so there is no miss fires and constant adjusting is not required... so good and consistent performance..... it's been in in the market since early 90-91 I believe..have driven 800 with this system and it's quit good.
and hey it does have an CDI on CB..

I installed one on a friends car, it works great. Its runing for the past 2.5 years without needing a look. Engine cranks easily, runs smoother ,better throttle response....

I guess the 'eureka' one in question comes with its own set of ignition coils, distributor and pickup mechanism.

I think they used to claim it is fitted on top of existing distributor and it would be possible to revert to original condition within minutes.
I could be wrong here.

Do we have to remove the existing Carburetor, and put in a new system. What is the estimated cost involved.

I have M800 recently revived, Just 6600KM driven. I am very much interested to know more about it.

The one i has was given to me by a friend, let me see if i can get more info on where you can source one.

Your carb remains as it is. Its just the distributor and coils that are to be replaced.
