It would be good to check the starter and you should know when it was manufactured. Also the tips given by DerAlte will help diagnose this problem.

I had a similar problem but it was related to the ignition coil the mechanic said... I did not replace it yet.

Atlas i did get the starter and alternator serviced and also changed all the fuse which are required. there was some problem in starter and alternator both he changed some part of starter i don't know exactly because i was out of town that day. But last thing is that it is done and the car is working fine as of now. Total: Spares n labour cost Rs. 2000/-. Will try and find out what he changed and will let you know.
Now what is next change i don't know. for me M800 is become a white elephant. every month some or the other problem.

the mechanic overhauled starter and alternator both and changed the recitifier which charges the alternator. That was faulty.

Glad to know that the problem was sorted. The M800 is a very reliable car if maintained well. Did you buy this car second hand or new?

It is a second hand car. bought it in 2006. While buying my dad n uncle n also the mechanic didn't check it properly. outer was all in good shape but the engine was not proper. it was half sub merged in water.
