Judging by the Hyundai Accent in the background which sports a 2001 regn (MH01CA9XXX) and a black number plate (pre July 2002), I'd say 2001 - 2002. Perhaps Harit can confirm.

The car seems to have been washed for the older rally
Lovely car, dust notwithstanding!

What was the criteria for participation ? I was told only cars dated pre 70. Is that information correct ?

Can we have more pictures of the Cream Elegent, seems very nicely done. Also is the VW based Tempo authentic? Just Curious to know.

I remember it even got some prize back in 2007. I sent and email to guess who and got no reply. But I just love what V16 has named it...

Cheers

As per the research of ZigWheels' journalists, this Tempo served under Field Marshall Erwin Rommel before coming into India

Treat for the eyes. My dad will be surely interested by all these pics Wonderful thread and pictures, nice coverage of the event too.

Noob question: How are all these cars maintained daily? Do they wash and polish these cars daily? Are they used as daily drives? Once such events are done, are they stored somewhere?

Priceless, forgiven for calling a Vidhal & Son tempo a VW, but they even spelt the Desert Fox's name wrong. He must be turning in his Grave.

by the way here's a photo of a similar looking original at Ashvek Vintage World Goa

Re: 'Pune Festival 2012 - Car Fiesta' on 23rd September 2012

I took part in the Pune event looking for some fun and a good time, and these desires were overfilled.
Got up at 4.00AM, collected a friend, fumbled to get into the car, then to start her, maybe was too sleepy. We met up with Kasli on the way, and set of for Pune. The car was unwashed(who will wash at 4.30AM?) As it started raining we drove slowly towards Chembur, maybe @20 to 30 KMPH meanwhile Kasli picked up the Mole. We halted at Chembur, gassed up and got the glasses cleaned. Daylight started to appear and we set of, with me driving. And surely driving I did, touched 80 KMPH (more not allowed) and the car just rocketted. Mechanically she seems to be perfect and Kasli was happy that we did go faster.
At the Merridien we parked the car and interacted with fellow enthusiasts. Tea, Coffee and snacks were served on the ground. At 10.30 the cars were flagged of, we drove around in Pune following an accurate Tulip chart, my daughter could follow the route and she has no past experience.
We stopped at the Military Hospital for about half an hour and had an interaction with soldiers in rehab. I understood that this was Subhash's idea, very good. Here they served tea and cold drinks, mementos were exchanged, and Roses were also exchanged.
Then a short run back to Hotel Merridien where we were served refreshments, an excellent lunch and then mementos were awarded to every participant. I truly enjoyed this and drove back in the afternoon. There was apprehension about traffic, except for a short pile up in the Khandala tunnel only due to congestion, the road was very clear. I took the overhead road upto Byculla to avoid Dadar.
The car behaved very well, and will now be restored, irrespective whether selected for the Cartier event. I took this decision when several people commented on the condition. This car is great from inside(mechanicals), shabby on the outside. I prefer this option, many good and shiny cars were stranded on the way.

Photos, comment will follow.

Cheers harit

"Why paint when some green tape would do".

Well I am glad that Harit is going to restore this car. With its royal history and being one of Harit's favorite cars guess she will remain stock. Harit, it is time you get some parking place away from the Arabian sea and save your cars from rust.

Cheers

In 2003 the car was entered in Pune with a white plate already, and a different competition number, so you are probably right, my dear Watson.

Lovely report Karlos! I just missed this thread and information.
Is there a way T-BHP admin can send out some mailers for such events in advance?
