Sree,

This is the season for Jeeps to be where they belong...Wild Outdoors!
Not many places like Magical Wayanad, this is one place I will make it someday soon.

Loved the 4th, frontal pic. of the SWB making it through the turbulent current, What a setting!
Regards,

Re: Wayanad Monsoon Off-Roading 2012

Nice pics Sreejesh!

One thing I can confirm about the track is that its absolutely stunningly beautiful!.. The nature around the track is just too good to be gone unnoticed.

The damn track would also be absolutely challenging during the monsoon. Its been raining continuously for the past 1 week, here in Wayanad, so, one can only imagine what all the clay have become!

Beware: Plenty of leeches! Last time I was here, I got about 10 of 'em. One in my belly! Sreejesh got one in his neck!

That Black jeep is the best performing jeep in our Team. Its a 98 model MWB jeep with MDI non turbo Engine and MM540 Diff/axles. this time the monsoon changed the trial in to a challenging one.

Sreejesh koya, from the pics it is evident the trail will be amazing.

If only the trail event could be on Saturday, I would have joined in. Have been longing to meet the Master Sibi Paul and of course you.

Wishing the Malabar boys all the best with the event.

Spike

EDIT- Liked the pic of the SWB with the bow waves, awesome !

Re: Wayanad Monsoon Off-Roading 2012

I have a question: (which may be foolish)

I am newbie in terms of off-roading. However I want to test my Safari 4x4. I use it for mild off-roading like through slush and rocky inclines so far and so I never needed A/T tyres. So my vehicle is equipped with H/T Tyres. However in the registration form, it says that one needs A/T tyres.

I know that I cannot participate in this off road event just because of this fact and I cannot upgrade to A/T tyres because of M Factor, but could you please suggest some alternate events where i would be able to take my vehicle along and learn some off-road techniques?
I am especially looking forward to these kind of events because off-late I have been travelling a lot and I am sure that I do not do well because of my limited practical knowledge about how to tackle bolders/slushy roads and things like that or what to do when stuck. But I would like to learn a lot in this aspect so that I can increase the scope of my travels to tackle much more difficult terrains.

Dear himavanth,

This time the trial is little tough and its made for only jeeps and gypsys . But definitely if you want to drive your Safari you can. We can assure you no underbody damage and body damage but it won't move a single foot in the climbs and slush. So we are planning for an alternative route for SUVs with some slush where you can engage 4WD and enjoy the Drive But right now we got only 3-4 enquires for SUVs so we kept it hold. if we got min 5 Suvs we will arrange another trial from the same route with some diversions. All the SUVs have their limitations and normally the events in South are mainly for Jeeps and gypsys.

For the event AT is minimum and we recommend MTs.
If you are seriously want to drive your Safari in off road Buy a set of MT tyre and keep your HT tyre for Highways .

Are you sure? Is the trail modified from last time?

How about the rock just before the 1st river crossing, and the one on top of the incline, just after the 1st river crossing?

I needed to know as, if that is not there, I will come with my smaller dia tyres.

Yes Dhanush We removed that first rock before the 1st river crossing and the one on the top of the incline all you need is keep right and just release the accelerator after the front wheel climbs and again full throttle .
