Hi Guys,

We had a very rewarding weekend, at TPC2012. On Behalf of JEEPTHRILLS & Adventure Zone I would like to thank all the competitors who came this far for TPC2012.

The Reporting and Registration was very delayed by teams turning in late.

TPC2012 – Started with the BOLT-ON CONCEPTS Prologue SS. The plan was to have 5 SS within a 2km Radius, and for this purpose we created 3 SS on Adventure Zone property.

But the rain gods had other plans and 3 SS were no-starters due to water inundation.

This was followed by a very late Drivers Briefing at 2230hrs.

Day#2 – Was the first stretch on The Palar.

All the teams were guided to the Riverbed; their Starting-Finish SS/Home SS. This leg started with 6 teams starting simultaneously.

Our decision to go ahead with roll-cages paid off, since we had two roll-overs on Day#2 & Day#3, both the driver and Vehicles continued unscathed.

All the teams had a grueling day, and the terrain started taking its toll. At least 11 of the 36 Competitors had Major to Minor breakdowns, 3 Vehicles had to be towed into camp.

After the day’s litter was handed over to the AZ staff, teams washed up and settled down for Dinner.

Day#3 – Was the second stretch on The Palar.

The start was delayed due to teams recovering from the previous days breakdowns.

Due to repeated breakdowns, the entire pace of the day’s run slowed down and the IGNITE Individual Special Stages Competition was postponed to the next morning.

At camp after Dinner the Provisional results we announced, a few teams noticed some calculation errors and they were immediately rectified.

At TPC2012 we instituted an new team Award category – Adventure Zone Green Team Award: this is awarded to the team which collects the maximum amount of litter (Plastic) from the riverbed, during the event.

Day#4 – The Prize Distribution Ceremony was followed by the IGNITE Individual Special Stages Competition, with the fastest timing wins.

I see a couple of Invaders and a Thar. Improbable competitors, many would say. How did they fare?

What model of vehicles rolled over? I am not trying to hang anybody, I have made plenty of mistakes driving myself, I am just curious. Looks like SWB jeeps owned this year's course.

Hi DD,

There were 4 Thars and 1 Invader. The Invader needs a diff-ratio swap to be a serious contender, the Invader stripped the reverse gear and just managed to get going in the competition.

The Mahindra Thar were managing, the lack of performance due to the IFS was obvious, also two vehicles suffered from ECM/Electrical Problems. Both vehicles continued on all days.

The Team which stood overall 4th had a Thar CRDe and 2 Mahindra Majors.

One Mahindra Major Rolled on Day#2 and a Maruti Gypsy rolled on Day#3. They were due to unsafe or rushed up vehicle recovery.

Arka

Whoz is that white gypsy with the white roll cage - KA01MP 5685?

Saw that in Kodihalli few weeks back

Hi Arka, in your post no.3, pic no.2, the gypsy seems to be articulating a bit too much, any idea what suspension set up is that?

Wow Arka finally you started posting pictures, nice,

Arka, can you give out some details on the best performing cj3b s. What powertrain tires were they using. Any suggestions to the short chassis from your side by looking at this years performance.

The gypsys also did extremely well just so you know. It was terrain familiarity of the chennai boys that gave them the edge I think. It was very close between the gypsy team and the 3B team. From marshaling SS2 on both days with Arka, we noticed that the gypsys in general were having a much easier time in Palar than the heavier Jeeps. The 3B was a close contender to the gypsy though because it is light weight as well and the short wheelbase gave it a little advantage.

I must congratulate the chennai team for beating out what I thought was an unbelievably good gypsy team from Bangalore. I honestly thought that those gypsys would easily win the competition but the skills of the chennai team truly surprised me! Congrats!

Lovely pics Arka. Some more individual narration picture by picture??
