Watched the thu night episode. They were in a desert. Frankly there were a lot of expectations which came crashing down soon. I didnt survive the whole episode. Maybe a diehard off roadist would but not me. A jungle episode might be more interesting though.
I have watched three episodes, I feel this show is a combo of Survival and Driving challenges something like Man vs Wild meets Ice Road Truckers!
For pure offroading stuff, Off the Road is still a better show. However the salvage techniques are neat. In last nights show they fixed a radiator leak with egg whites!!
Surely the presence of eggs and a radiator fixed by egg wites seems that the show is been crafted for fun..
The show isn't really for everyone. There are couple of neat fixes they did to get out. Like the one they did when the half shaft was broken so they put a log in place of the wheel and drove on that.
Didnt find anything that interesting. First day i changed to some other program at 10:30pm and yesterday at 10:40pm.. was trying to watch it as much as possible.
Everything looks planned in each and every shot. There is nothing which makes you continue watching.
Did have a lot of expectations but the output is not quite there.
The real obstacle path seemed to be edited out. e.g. after replacing the broken drive shaft wheel with a log the Jeep ran a few meters and bang the next was shown the Jeep and crew arrives at a dimly lit garage...challenge over.
Doesn't seem too real or practical.
Come on, it may not be the usual Great Escape or OTRs kind of videos but some fixes shown there are pretty neat emergency DIYs. The first episode itself showed how to use a twig to replace certain portions of the coil plug cable, which was indeed pretty interesting.
One major thing they wanted to highlight was the survival strategies because of the presence of that ex-special ops person. But in few places that looked like kind of 'forced'. But overall i guess the show is pretty ok. After all there aren't much of tv shows now showing a Jeep traversing through the remote terrains.
