Hello 4x4 loving Bhpians!
i got news. Discovery channel has started a new show called 'one car too far' which involves a ten year old jeep wrangler which is air dropped to the middle of nowhere and two guys- one a gear head and the other a survival expert- work together to get it (and themselves) back to civilization.
Saw it for the first time last night (halfway-until it clashed with mom's saas bahu wala show) and liked it very much. the guys were stuck in a rain forest. was interesting to see how they made their way out of some serious terrain.
It is aired everynight at 10 on discovery channel.

Was thinking of posting this thread today and Voila! it is already there!
Not that I am in to 4X4 stuff or own a 4X4, but this show is just too good to be ignored!
Saw two episodes of it. In one of them, the guy lost his rear left wheel and guess what?? He tied a tree branch and reached the nearest village!
In yesterday's show, they went through slush, river and what not! A few very interesting tricks as well!
A must watch for every one I would say!
Cheers!
ObsessedByFIAT : DUDE - Why are spoiling it for everyone by telling them what they do? So, you've downloaded both the episodes and watched them, great! For the rest of the world who watch on TV, let them discover things for themselves, just the way you did.
I've watched both episodes too, they're fun. Still think the TopGear Bolivia special was better, but that's just my opinion :)

The top Gear Bolivia special was special indeed!
But what makes this series special is that they are all alone i.e. no convey of jeeps to pull them out of trouble. (Although the production team would be having backup vehicles, i dont think they will use them to get the wrangler out of trouble on screen)
Would be a good platform for exploring new off road recovery and salvage techniques! who knows they might come in handy during your next OTR!

Even I saw this episode yesterday. It was awesome. Even I had thought of posting it but found it present already.
But do you really think its possible to tie a tree branch and drive. I doubt!!
Otherwise its a great show. Quite informative and increases the learning.
Must watch.
I was totally addicted to Discovery channel yesterday evening as
7:30 to 8:00 Factory Made
8:00 to 9:00 Deception with Keith Barry
9:00 to 10:00 Man vs Wild
10:00 onwards One car too far
One question (not cars related, sorry for that) to all who has shown last two episode of Keith Barry, is it real or fake?? If it is real he is jaw dropping mentalist!! awesome..

Not spoiling anything for anyone! The episodes I am speaking off have already been aired on television! And, no, I have not downloaded the episodes!

If I would have heard it from someone, I would'nt have believed it. But I saw it on TV and do not think was one of those camera tricks (like they do on WWF!! stupid:)
Not sure, but with a 4X4, I think it must be possible. Like I said earlier, I have absolutely zero knowledge about 4X4 vehicles, heck! I dont even own one!

I seriously like these shows but they clash with the serials and Mom is so rigid that she doesn't even allow to swap channels even between the commercial breaks :Frustrati
I saw the show yesterday sometime around 4.30pm and It was great. The Jeep's rear half axle broke and the wheel came off. They tied up a 1.5 meter wooden log in place of that wheel and drove down the mountains only on 3 wheels :Shockked:

Is this what they did?

Yes, that's what they did. Along with an interesting DYI for snow chains using thick rope.

Yes, this demonstartes exactly what they did!
Did not know it was already tried and tested though!
Cheers!
Its ON right now; 12noon 6-9-12
Seems like a must watch series. It caught my eye too. I guess I better start looking for it online.
Some how I felt it was all a little too dramatized. Especially yesterday, him clipping away inches from the sparkplug wire (it was as if just to ensure that twig fix is covered in that episode).
Though yeah, I did get to know a few new tricks to get the car moving when it stops out in the open without any help around.
Saw this yesterday night.
Agree with Spinnerr, the show is too dramatized. But thats a feeling I get with all such shows!
BTW, they showed the 4x4 tied to rock with a rope to have controlled slide.. it looked like a movie stunt! Or.. is it a a normal one?!
