Re: Report & Pics: The 2015 Mahindra Club Challenge, Goa

Awesome pictures ! Its amazing to see the turnout. Its something that most of the people will never be able to do even once in their life times.

Just one concern, don't you think safety wise there is more scope for improvement. Like the pictures where the jeeps are crossing above the other cars, God forbid if the car overturns, the driver is just wearing a helmet and a seat belt. What about probable injuries on the neck and shoulders.

Jasmeet Ji,
I agree to disagree, Vehicles roll over in offroading at very slow speed, i must have seen more than dozen rollovers which i was part of (navigator, recovery, spotter). A good roll cage, seat belt and simple precaution of keeping body parts inside the vehicles serve the purpose.
They happen in such a low speed that basic safety norms keep you safe, but yes, risk is there. Its as same as how safe you are in Indian roads.

Re: Report & Pics: The 2015 Mahindra Club Challenge, Goa

Its good see that Mahindra is recognizing the important role local clubs are playing in growing off-roading in India. A club challenge is a great way to motivate them to keep getting bigger and better, the barging rights don't hurt either

Kudos to Mahindra for organizing this event and Congrats to BODA members for coming on top.

Amazing pictures. Had the story to tell. And looks like one hell of a challenge. I had gone through the videos that Dhanushs had uploaded on G+.

Thanks so much.

OT:

I've been saying this since a while: inertia belts won't help in offroading since roll over speeds are usually slow. Harness or at least lap belts or three point non inertia type seat belts found in old cars (like i had in my 118NE).

Saying that since roll over is slow, it's ok is wrong in my opinion. One could easily break his neck in a slow roll over where the inertia belt is not engaging.

Were you ever part of a vehicle which toppled? slow vehicle speed doesnt mean slow roll over speed, in all the cases, i witnessed, seat belts always worked.
Four point seat belt is definitely a good idea though !
There is lot of information in Google for seat belts, similar to other offroad techniques which anyone can refer to take educated decision !

I've seen a lot of topples that occurred very slowly as well. And those time the inertia belts haven't engaged and the driver and pax have been on their roofs.

You don't have to be in a topple to understand that. You may have been lucky nothing happened.

And you did mention "Vehicles roll over in offroading at very slow speed"

I don't understand why get on the offensive if someone has a different opinion.

What's the google jibe? Then don't give any explanations on the forum and just ask people to google na?

No offence Tejas bhai, everyone has his/her own opinion and analysis of a situation.
It was not a jibe, it was about different theories and opinions which exist in internet.
Peace !

Very nice report Shubendra. Thanks for penning it down. Makes one feel as if one was there seeing it.

It is really nice on M&M part to make a competition for clubs and with modified vehicles. A team format helped a lot and am sure from next year onward this will be one event which will be looked forward to and people will not miss it.

Here are few videos of the event:
