Independence day OTR with Kolkata Offroaders!

What can be a better way to celebrate Independence day than unleashing the 4wds to conquer the untamed terrain!
Okay, off-course this is not the best way to celebrate Independence day, but catchy captions like these are quite popular now a days, so tried one!



D-Bhpian SS-Traveller was in Kolkata, and it coincided with the off-road day, so he also joined us.



We chose our old playground in Boinchi. Our plan was to start the OTR by 10 am. It's around 75 km from my place. SS-Traveller was generous enough to pick me up from my home, and drop me back after the OTR.

We spent a good amount of time with a couple of Jimnys.
And the rest of the time, I was driving this beautiful left hand drive Willys.

The Jimny was stuck here, but after rocking it for 10-15 times, it finally managed to come out of it's own. One thing I felt was, the steering needs more turning, so to find a better grip when I was rotating the steering while rocking the car, I had to turn the steering a bit more than other cars.

After an eventful 4 hours, we wrapped up by 2 pm.

Kicking the dust up and getting our adrenaline pumping, an off-roading event with KO is an experience that leaves us all exhilarated and craving for more. Indeed a day well spent. Thanks for keeping a log of these

Have been missing out on too many KO events lately. Time to deprioritize those daily routines and get back on one of these offroad fun days!! In fact, in the past 3 of my visits, Pandua only came up on those days! The other locations seem to be more enticing!

Also, this time the Jimny was definitely one more reason to drop in. Hope to catch up with you all soon!!

This was my second OTR participation with the KO. This was more of a learning session for me as well as a good opportunity to test and see the capabilities of our beloved offroad machines. Surprisingly my new thar glided through different offroad areas here with absolute ease. The upclimb over a sand dune both in automatic and manual mode even with TC on (forgot to switch it off out of excitement) was effortless, with little shuddering I felt over the sand at dune top which was later pointed out by Samba as wheel hoping (details about that wheel hop/ shuddering is logged here :

I felt like it was due to the TC On effect, although I will double check with the Mahindra guys about the same as suggested by Samba. Later I tried and was able to make an easy donut in my first attempt itself with the Thar. Below is the video along with few captured moments.

Glad to have been a part of the Kolkata Offroaders Independence Day OTR this year. The weather was like the inside of a superheated sauna bath, but that did not deter anyone from having fun. Here are a few video clips.
