Night off-roading was great fun

The night-offroading meet was awesome (in, fact it is probably not yet over : I came back early) : much more exciting than I had anticipated. I was not sure if I would be going, until after lunch today. Well, looking at in hindsight, it was a good that I decided to go for the night OTR. I will be uploading some pics shortly.

Neat! How about some pictures showing other parts of the course too?

@ Arka : What was the idea behind a night offroading session? Did you need special permission for the same?

Yes, I had a good time, esteem_lover, , you should have also come along.
I was able to take my Gypsy upto the end of the long descent, which goes halfway down into the quarry.

For those who dont know the layout of this quarry, please refer the below report by Samurai :
http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/4x4-of...am-quarry.html

We had to turn back after that point, since the track now ends in a vertical drop there .

Arka,
Where are the other pics? Please post the pic of the steep section where we had to return due to road cut leading to sheer drop. I will add a link of videos in a day or two.

The abandoned blue-metal quarry where we had gone for the night-offroading is the same one where the OTR was held in Dec2007 (and reported by Samurai). This night-off-roading session was my first visit to this quarry, and though I enjoyed it well, and also got to see some beautiful night views of the distant city and nearby villages, I had wanted to go there again during the daytime to explore it better. The weekend of May 3/4, I got a change to go again to this quarry with some cousins of mine, and we got to do some trekking as well. It was fun, I did some off-roading and drove up to the top, and we enjoyed the scenic views also. But could not spend much time, since we had little kids in the group and had to return for breakfast.

This quarry offers some decent off-roading opportunities, and also some some good picnicking can be done.

I will definitely go back there again (with packed breakfast), and spend some more time there (and of course take a lot of pics).

BTW, Arka, vinod_nookala, I had noticed some fresh tyre marks at the ascent/descent point : had any of you been there recently? or maybe some one from jeepthrills ???

Resizing Photos

Great pictures. Suggest you resize photos to about 50 Kb for faster downloading. Believe me, this size is enough for web viewing.
