2WD or not, The scorpio owners are still willing to go out and have fun. that is more than what can be said for other "SUVs"

maruti organises little autocrosses, mahindra organises wannabe 4X4 events.
atleast they are doing something.
what about the other manufacturers?

Could it be that they do no know which ones are current and which ones are discontinued? I guarantee you their dealers do not know. Maybe they hold the event as a way to find out

atleast we have a manufacturer doing something and giving a new experience to suv owners.
to all the veterans
everybody starts small please dont forget that and let your egos overtake the passion for going off road

I think the purpose is great escape is not really off roading but to build up camaraderie between Mahindra owners. Great escape like events are good advertisements, and give the vehicle owners a sense of "belonging"

Yeah i agree, i dont have an issue with what they do - i dont like them calling it 4x4 adventure. Drop that and i wil take my 2WD Bolero on the Escape's instead of feeling like a jacka$$ sitting in my Classic and watching 2WD vehicles making the course and feeling that "Yeah I went on a 4x4 adventure".

i did not feel like one after towing an innova stranded in a water crossing on the manali leh "highway"

Weren't the early Great Escapes proper 4x4 events?

if i am not mistaken they occasionally do have sections in the great escape limited to 4wd's only, the ones in coorg and rajasthan are considered most challenging if i am not mistaken

You bet they were, until the Scorpio got launched. Most Great Escapes after have been to portray the *toughness* of the Scorpio, rather than offroading.

From what I hear, this event was disappointing. A close friend who took his Classic along aborted the event mid-way. He got bored of waiting for the 2WD's to get pulled out.

It's sad, but the best vehicle in the Great Escapes are no longer offered for Sale by Mahindra !!

Next they will make he Great escape open to the Mahindra Renault Logan. Who cares if it is two wheel drive as long as there is one Legend with a winch even Maruthi 800s can participate.

Mods, please move this thread from the 4x4 section. There ought to be poser 4x4 section to post pictures of 2WD scorpios being wintched out of situations where any decent 4x4 would be able to drive through. Shame on your Mahindra for this Farce !!

that is true the heavy rains had made conditions extremely slippery and first timers who tried to crawl in their 2wd's got stranded and i am sure as more vehicles drove by their tracks made it increasingly difficult for the second half of vehicles to go thru the same patches.
