Mandatory health tips for 4X4 Drivers

Dear offroaders,

It is very important (more than what and how you upgrade your vehicle) to know the health related issues that could be triggered due to an offroad event. Hence we all being offroaders, I wish to bring in this discussion towards human health on an offroad ground.

Please pay serious attention towards the symptoms, remedy, prevention methods that we are going to discuss in this thread.

I’m requesting our fellow Jeeper Dr.Jones to provide his valuable inputs on the following areas where human health closely affected or at risk on the offroad terrain.

1. High Altitude sickness
a. Symptoms:

b. Prevention methods & activity:

c. Medication for Sugar and BP patients and general people & First Aid:

I request others to identify further areas where we need to cautions and well prepared before considering an offroad trip.

I hope we will not loose another life as I strongly believe high altitude would have played a great part in Alfa_Kilo (Abhimanyu) loss.

I’m also going to have another thread started to discuss the natural climate related issues and preventive methods for an offroader.

Drive Safe!

The most probable chances are back pain and spinal cord related disorders.

7. Symptoms: Burning sensation and irritation. Possible culprits, muck, insects, twigs and whatever comes flying towards your eyes.

Prevention Methods:
Sunglasses

Medication and First Aid: Wash it off with clear water and resist the temptation to rub your eyes if the foreign body is still present. Never rub your eyes, thinking it might disintegrate or flow out, this causes more damage.

Hi guys,

Leeches are not a big problem. Never pull them ( i know when we see a leech on our body that is the first reaction). You either apply odomos / any insect repellant so that they do not come in the first place and if at all they come do the following.rub tobacco or salt ( tie salt in a small cloth), pour a small quantity of soft drink like sprite , pepsi , etc and off they go.
Twigs and branches on the trail can seriously injure your eyes or also crack your windscreen.better to slow down and if required cut them before moving ahead.

cheers

Good initiative there trammway. Indeed its more important to take care of the man than the machine under any circumstances. Still can't believe what has happened with 'Alpha_kilo'.

3. Shoulder

As far as I know, he is working on the points posted. As it is a huge list let us wait till Dr.Jones comes back with the awareness information for all the offroaders.

Meanwhile if any one of you know any other issue/symptom/firstaid/medication please post it in this thread so we can make a consolidated list of items to carry when we go off the road.

More than carrying what we need is the awareness and symptom to identify any issue that are happening with us on the offroad terrain.

-regards,
Can anyone tell us what happened to Alpha Kilo?, this topic has been brought up in many threads without an answer. Was it a case of snake bite or something?
