Cheers,
Thats because, you get 10 points for clearing the obstacle and 3 points for attempts, irrespective of the number of attempts!

The folks manning the SS watch out for foulplay and whether we abide by the rule book! Whether safety procedures are met with incase of recovery etc etc..

The challenge of TPC09 was a little longer for me. I reached home yesterday evening after struggling in the train for 48 hrs without any confirmed seat/birth.

However it was worth travelling almost 2500 Km one way to participate in the event .

I will be start posting pictures from my camera after the office hrs today.

How do you change tire without jack. Do people lift the side of the vehicle, or do people push it to lay it down on the side, change tire, and then put it back?
I am really curious how it is done with heavy jeeps.
As for vehicle recovery without assistance, first you get stuck and then you take a shovel and dig?
Please note, both my questions are serious questions, I am genuinely curious. If pictures of the process can be shown it will be great.

Sort of getting it but help me understand from the image below.
Say for example in SS #7 (marked in red below), we have people getting points that range from 50 to all different numbers.

Now WHAT led to these specific points? what did the participants do/not do that led them to get these points and HOW did the marshals arrive at these points -- in a NON SUBJECTIVE manner.

Can you or someone else share w.r.t EACH person in that list below on SS#7 as to how this was arrived at?

Hi Shahnawaz,

The Scoring is 10pts for a successful climb irrespective of no. of attempts
3pts for trying irrespective of no. of attempts.

The Special Stages had between 3-5 obstacles/climbs
maximum 30-50pts per SS i.e 3pointers to 5pointers

So 22pts = 1successful +4 tries (attempted)
36pts = 3 succesful + 2 tries (attempted)

Hope this helps.

Regards,

Arka

That's makes it clear now. Thanks man. Quite simple and uncomplicated I must say. GREAT.!!!

If one is NOT able to clear/overcome an obstacle/climb then one gets ONLY 3 points and 10 points if one clears it -- irrespective of the number of tries to clear/not clear. so no time factor involved in points.

And during this, other team members/vehicles can help to 'climb/clear'? or not allowed?

Arka if you could clarify whether my understanding is right or wrong.

From the above chart Team 5 seems to have cleared all but 2 obstacles in Stage 2 (both drivers) and 2 obstacles in SS7 (Baskar). If they had not been helped by the Marshalls on Day 1 would they have won the TPC even though they were handicapped by one less participant. Also Sean has scored 546 out of the 560 possible, amazing performance by both Man and Machine in that case. Way to Go.

The Special Stages have a Max Time Limit =
No. Vehicles X No. Obstacles X 2 minutes

This Time Limit covers all recovery situations.

If a team does not finish with in the stipulated time limit, then they continue with a DNF. (This year we did not penalize any DNF)

Only recovery assisted by O-Team was penalized.

At the end of the day the vehicles which finished with least no. of attempts (Minimal Time) gets a Time Bonus of 30%/20%/10% of the Max pts for the Days Run. (not Added in this Score Sheet)

Regards,

Arka

Lesson learnt!

Super pics aravind,

This was probabaly the most easiest sections ' rapid five' i think. Was so overconfident of clearing it in one shot. I confused my route and lost time reversing and all which was other wise the only cake walk section!

Lesson: never be over confident even on a minor obstacle!!

Some pictures from my camera...

1. Nissan 1 ton, on the way from Chennai to the Adventure Zone (base camp).
2. Offloading the Jeep of Kerala team from a truck.
3. Team no. TWO - leaving from camp on the first day.
4. On the fist day, reaching at the river bed itself was a bit challenging. The way was closed by the villagers to prevent the illegal truck going into river bed. And this is where our offroad starts even before reaching at the river.
5. ATVs in action...
