Bangalore - Chikkaballapur OTR (02nd Oct 2009) - The Unforgettable OTR.!!!

Hey guys

The Doddaballapur OTR, what an OTR it turned out to be. Truely an unforgettable one, and one of the longest ones. 7am to 1am! Started with an roadside (Offroad!) rescue attempt of an i10 and ended with the unsuccessful attempt of towing out Rehan's Scorpio, after lots of effort from all I must add. I think many of us reached home close to sunrise! But unexpected things like this does happen on an OTR and I dont think any one is complaining, although all of us were dead tired.

I have quite a few pictures that I am posting but I am not so good with the words, so it would be great if one of the co-BHPians could give a brief write up. I must add it was one of the best OTR experiences till date! in an adventerous way. I hope Rehan managed to get his Scorpio out in the morning. If anyone has more info on this please update.

Enjoy the Pictures.

Nishanth

Guys, sorry my camera battery just ran out! Will post all other pictures and videos later in the day!

Dwarak/Vinay pass me on the road to OTR and say "there is a car lying in a ditch some 1/2 KM behind. Should we go and help him and pull him out?" I think for a second and say "OK".

I think we spent some 1 hour there only to find that not only we could not move the i10 but also get the xenon stuck big time. A tractor came to pull out both the xenon (that too after 2 safari's puling in serial could not move the xenon an inch) & i10.

I headed into this adventure hoping it would not last more than 5-6 hrs nursing a near to broken leg. Little did I know it would go on for 20hrs. It was quite an experience, I have loads of pics, I'll post them by tomorrow.

Hats off to the team spirit shown by all the guys. It was wonderful meeting you all.

An OTR for 20 hours.

Must have been crazy, expect to see lots of pictures soon. I know pictures can be deceiving. Is this the same spot where the Xenon got stuck? Looks doable.

This must have been an ordeal. Did the SUVs have at least AT tyres? I don't see winches in action either. Do you guys feel a winch would have helped here?

It is better to carry food/water to last at least 2 days in your vehicle. Nothing can be predicted in OTRs.

Yeah, the SUV's had the A/T's. The scorpio had the Mudzillas and that was one performer until it's clutch fried.

No one had a winch. Lucky for us that we had some 4-5 tow ropes. Not having a winch is one of the reasons that this OTR was an adventure.

You must be joking. At times people just turn up without even carrying a bottle of water and expect to be taken care of -- forget food/etc.

OMG thats scary.. an i10 in that sort of MUD. Was there any greater damage to that i10 other than the flat tyre?
