Re: Bought a Mahindra MM440 off Craigslist in Texas

^ Given how easy it is to remove the drive shafts and bring the gearbox down, Lets pretend that the Clutch is toast and have a look see.

I'm helping a friend convert a diesel CJ3B back to Hurricane , it's almost done - just a few more years worth of work

Chuckling, while that is a very viable diagnostic strategy, I think I'll first take the rear cover off the Transfer case and see if the nut is still tight and the gear has not moved.

Re: Bought a Mahindra MM440 off Craigslist in Texas

Well, I took the rear cover off the transfer case. Even though the gear was still attached, I’m glad I did, the fluid is very nasty.....

So, looks like diagnostics by tearing it apart is next in the list.

Which means it goes on the when I get to it list.

Jon.

Congratulations you are a proud owner of a Mahindra now....

Some very good suggestions have been given regarding using the Roxor as a reference for body parts, the chassis & suspension are most probably different. (Roxor is a box chassis with wider leaf springs).

Is your engine running the solex carburettor or is it of another make?
Since your engine is a hurricane and your vehicle a LHD try upgrading to a weber 2 bbl carburettor with headers and free flow exhaust, will be fun to drive it around.

My old MM340DP later on called the Classic would do this.
I called it a security feature.

The lower transmission needs to be engaged.
It is to be disengaged only when bringing 4wd high or low into use.

BlackBeard,

It currently has a Rochester B, but I have a Carter YF-A sitting on the shelf that is going to go on it.

Hey there,
Nice to see that you got yourself a MM440. It's a great machine and loads of fun. I had the opportunity to own one for years. It is currently undergoing restoration. Is yours an Argentina ckd?
Cheers

Re: Bought a Mahindra MM440 off Craigslist in Texas

A Mahindra has showed up on Cars and Bids.
Listing says it is a CJ340 and is currently in North Carolina in US:

I'm a bit confused though. the CJ340 that I recollect was a high bonnet/Hood model and not low Bonnet/Hood. Is this really a CJ340? Can our Jeep experts clarify?

Here is the VIN - MA1AA4DC11A25600
