Is this because the leaf springs are under compressive load normally on road rather than tensile load as in a sping under axle setup?

I'm not thorough with the tech stuff on this. But it as the Axle Center will change relative to the Leaf Spring Eyes (Triangulation) also the Leaf Spring will pivot on the Axle Tube.

I think Spike Arrestor can make a better and more elaborate explanation.

Tried out SPOA on the CJ3b. The handling, don't even want to talk about it !
Undoing it now.

That was fast Jagat. I was expecting the handling to go for a dive..Thanks for the reassurance.

Ride and handling are two different parameters and one should strike a balance [read as compromise during OTR].

Jagat did you try wider axles? SWB taller you go, wider track will help compensate the handling issue to an extent.

I happened to come across a SPOA Jeep, coincidentally in coorg. More coincidentally done up in Mysore. :)

This is owned by a estate owner, has participated in OTRs and more relevant, used as a daily drive. Necessity for the MOD was daily drive around the unforgiving paths/tracks around coffee estates around Coorg.

He said a few things that should sum up any questions from prospective modders...

1) Very easy to do, only need a competent garage/mechanic
2) no failures/breakdowns so faar due to increased joint angles
3) BAD shift in C.O.G on normal roads - something what Jagat said a few posts ago. This owner also was a rally'ist in the past.

Notice, no traction bar - and no failures till date with daily offroading activity around tracks. Of course none so demanding that may warrant a axle wrap prevention mod.

I can understand the 5x0, but how did you relate to NGCS? No M&Ms IIRC are offered as SPOA.

Is it the first lot of Commander 750 series having BOX section rails?
I think those chassis were on few LWB Mahindras. They are same like older C sections but are boxed having tubular cross sections??

I think Invaders/ Strikers are offered with rear SPOA setup stock from factory.

The rear differential has been tilted upward by 3" to minimize the tilt of the rear shaft, the front differential being in the stock position has the front shaft tilted at a ridiculous angle, subjecting the joint/ cross to extreme stress, wear and very good chance of breaking at the stress point.

Apart from the above, this 540 with a later model (tubular cross members) chassis loses on stability due to the body raise resulting in higher center of gravity.

The vehicle was a 750 commander. Chassis# was CDR750..., I would have never guessed it, looked like a 540, but very purpose built for estate/farm use. The owner Harsha uses it for daily use, and has had no issues till date. Am surprised the front joint hasnt broken at such angles.

Arka - Can you help me identify the shocker on this, it is a silver painted gabriel gas-filled shock. I couldnt identify the part# under the dust and grime.

here is a NGCS 650.

i guess both 750 & 650 use same NGCS setup.

This type SPOA set up came as OEM for mahindra CL series type 4WD pik up
with DI engine.
