Gypsy Transfer Case Needed

Hello there every body. I'm a proud owner of a 410W. Have had it for 4 years now. But it has developed a whining noise and my mech says its due to problems with the transfer case, have tried repairing it but sound remains.

Need advice on what to do. Would be happy to get a replacement if anybody has a spare. Would also like to know the best gypsy mech in chennai. As of now I'm going to C.A.R.S. India in Adyar.

Have come to a very frustrating stage coz of the noise. Please help.

Thank you so much in advance.

Cheers

Xavier

Hi Xavier,

Please, check the following and confirm.

1) Check if the Vehicle is in 2WD.
2) Check the Free Wheeling Hubs (Front Axle)
3) Check the Rear Propeller Shaft (Spline/Yoke/Universal Joints)
4) Check the Rear Differential (Slack/Play in the Pinion)

After you have eliminated these please check the Gear Box and then the T-Case.

Regards,

Arka

PS - Contact Headers aka Vikram R. he has one of the best Off-Road going Gypsy, in INDIA.

Re: Gypsy Transfer Case Needed

Hello Arka,

1.The noise remains through all four gears on 2WD, 4wL and 4wH.

2.Mine does not have the free wheeling hub..

3. The propeller shaft is fine. Have checked and had all the star joints replaced recently.

4. will get the rear differential checked.

and will get in touch with headers.

Thanks once again Arka.

Will let you know the result on monday.

Cheers

Xavier
