Cylinder balancing is NOT OK. get the injectors checked again for balancing and adjusted for equal pressure in all four. or if it is done recently, add some engine oil to the diesel and take it for a long drive. it will reduce knocking.

before you do anything get the pump delivery pipes to the ngine checked if your mechanic has not connected them to the cylinders in the correct order, the fuel would be deliverd to the wrong cylinder at the wrong time, which leads to heavy knocking and a lot of noise.

@motocamp: IMHO would that have been the case the engine would not start.

Check cylinder compression and injectors. If all are not equal then the engine would be running rough. Also make sure that the exhaust pine etc are properly "hung" and not touching the body.

Do post here the solution that works.

Hi HPS,

Please check
1) T-Case Mount (Cross-Bolt)
2) Engine/FIP Timing and Idling Speed.

Regards,

Arka

Re: Engine vibration in a '52 CJ3A Jeep with Peugeot powerplant

this engine originally was fitted with a MICO FIP,which was changed to a CAV FIP.i dont think that should be a cause for the knocking.any way like you suggest i am going to get the injector pressure checked.shall get back with the result.theexhaust is fitted with rubber brackets.
