I always loved the idea of a big-wheeled and tyred jeep though I'd only have the guts to do it to a MM550. Needless to say, I'll be glued to this thread. :-D
Hi, kind of similar look. Stock looks with lift and big tires. No fancy bumpers etc.

Hi Santosh, i did not measure the engine. I will measure the weight once i remove the engine while painting. However google says the turbo charged version of this engine is 340kgs.I am not using the turbo . My fly wheel is an industrial flywheel which is 36 kgs compared to the automotive flywheel which is 28kgs.
Regarding the chassis , i cannot prove it technically . Since i dont intend to go for any fancy winch bumpers etc and have the batteries in the cabin , taking into account the dcm engine is 295kgs , and this engine has 4 engine mounts , 2 at the regular position and 2 near the fly wheel , the weight should be evenly distributed .

Chassis breakage used to happen with Jeeps fitted with the perkins p4 engine due to vibrations, this engine is quite silent .

HI Rajith. I have seen tinis Jeep when the engine was just plonked. Nice specs.

Initially i wanted to use the original IHI turbo and play with the kiki pump to get 50 + kgm torque . But later thought to use it NA and then see if i require a turbo.
One of my friend has bought 2 2006 mm550s and 2 4jg2 and isuzu gear box recently.

Initially i thought to use the trooper gearbox, but this engine is known for chewing up the drivetrain and parts are hard for the isuzu box. 22kgm figure is at idling.

This is the isuzu equivalent for the Cummins 4bt engine and its already got a pet name here , Double scorpio engine. Scorpio engine, nissan bd30 and DCM toyota , nissan RD28, perkins p4 etc engines look too puny to be compared.

Sorry Sandeep to take some space in clearing the above friends querry.

Hi Abhi,

Mine is a 2002 MM540- 4wd and KL regd.

with 53 OKBJ set up in front and 57 FFRA with 4.88 diff ratio, Rane power steering, Disc breaks,Hardtop,AC, Front facing seats with above ISZ 4GJ2BT setup with 5sp 4wd, all 4 Bilsteins , MRF AT Wanderer 31inch tyres on scorpio 16 inch rims.

Entire set up was done by Tini and may be he spend around 3 to 3.5L apart from vehicle cost and lot of man hours on this project. Seems it costed Engine & Gbox alone at the shop @ slightly above 1.2Lac.

Runs cool. Engine and gear box is just superb and now well balanced on this set up now !!. Engine gets fired in a fraction of a second, even stopped for a month outside the garage under sun or rain.

Only thing of concern is , it drink diesel like coke !.

Re: Frankenstein operates the CJ6

Just googled found the torque curve of this engine in NA form .

Can some one tell me how the torque gets affected with every kg added to the flywheel weight?

How is the intake air temp with the Intercooler + airfilter in the engine bay?

And just with a snorkel with out intercooler?

Airfilter in the engine bay sends hot air into the intercooler which inturn cools the air and sends it to the engine .

Case 2, snorkel directly sends the air into the engine which is cooler than the engine bay air?

Hi Rajith,

I have just sourced this engine for one of the jeeps I am currently working on, would need your help in finding the supplier for its spare parts. I am currently looking for the clutch assembly and the clutch forks (didnt get them with the engine)

It would be great if you could let mme know the exact part numbers too.

Looking forward to hear back from you.

Best,

Gobind
