This is what I Really want to make. Its for the front. Can you tell me the min thickness needed for the Base plate and the Mount ? |
disclaimer ---IMHO AFAIK :D as following
1) base plate thickness minimum .5 " Maximum .75 "
2) mount knob ( fits at right angle to base --to which D shackle attaches ) thickness Minimum .75 " maximum 1.0 "
3) bolts for base plate to chassis --thickness .5 " -- 4 Nos
4) choose appropriate dimensions suitable to your bumper & for serviceability
Spike, Sudharsan Bhai Thanks for the inputs.
The thickness of army spec rear hooks base plate is .4" .Will do a search for 5" plate at coimbathur or else I will use the original Army D-Hooks. My plan is use the same rear hook plate on the front also.

Thats not the thickness Sreejesh so its not 4''. See the plate, its bent over. It looks like a 10-12 mm thick plate at the most. I guess a 3/4th inch base plate should do if welded properly.
Custom made D-Ring Mount for the front bumper.
Finally, I got it Registered .
! Warning ! Never take an army Jeep without Registration :D
Sudharsan,Pratheesh :-agree:

Hey sreejesh, Amazing journey there. :thumbs up
btw, is the 550 in Meenangadi restored to the same levels?
What about Gopal's? Do update me.
Tnx!!..
SVS, TN 66 is Coimbathur central.
blueblooded , I will PM you the details or call me.
dhanushs , The Other 550 is smoother than My 550.Gopal is reliable person I know him.
Few accessories for my Jeep. Diff guard from Vijay and few hooks.
Small DIY . I accidentally broke one of my reverse light and I was in search for a red rear light(Don't know the exact name for that type red light) so decided to build one from the broken army type reverse light.
Glass cut from a Gypsy break light and fitted in the reverse light frame.
Now Jeep is at workshop for the Suspension rebuild . I decided to remove the extra leafs on the front and rear and kept 7 for front and 9 for rear. changed All the shackle bar, Bushes.
Diff guard fitted its really simple and I did it myself. All we need is a 12-13 Ring Spanner and 10- TVS jeep Clutch Bolts.
Installed Snorkel on My Jeep.
