Re: Evolution of my Jeep Rubicon

1) Whoa - a 165A/Hr custom unbranded Alternator. Its a good deal if it holds up for the long winching operations... Whats the cost? The max we get here is a 150Ah rated one from Bosch (made for tata winger van) and it is ridiculously priced at 25+K.

2) Whats with the yellow jeep? one for the lady in the house?

Santosh that is a locally built alternator by a business that has been around for 21 years. I like to buy locally manufactured stuff as much as I can. It cost about 16000 Rs. and comes with lifetime warranty. So far I have really liked it. Also have several club members that run them and I have never heard a single negative comment about it.

The Yellow Jeep is my newest possession and will be subject of the new thread " Evolution of my Jeep Rubicon Part II"
It is also 2006 Jeep Rubicon but it is a longer wheelbase with automatic transmission. These were only made for 2 years and there are only 6500 copies of this Jeep in various colors out there. They are extremely hard to find and you pay thru the roof for them.

Evolution of my Jeep Rubicon

Hello Team-BHP!!

It has been a while so I figured I will stop by and say hello.

And share some pics of the new rig. 2006 Jeep LJ.
A lot has happened in last few years. We have moved to a farm house and life has become even more busier as the kids are growing up. Still the motor head in me lives on.

Re: Evolution of my Jeep Rubicon

@ Gujarati, awesome thread. Subscribed now, better late than never. This will be a bible for mods to Jeep.
All the Mods on your earlier Jeep described here are awesome and apt for off-road trails especially rock crawling.
Please do keep posting about how your yellow LJ evolves.
And last but not the least, your passion for Jeeps rocks.

Re: Evolution of my Jeep Rubicon

Awesome update and nice color choice. What is your recommendation for folks who are on the sidelines to buy a jeep? New or used and yes or no?

Maddy

I would buy it. I prefer used. Lots of choices with low mileage. My favorite model years are 2005-2006. TJ/LJ - that is why I own both. Only issue is if this is going to be your daily driver both may not be practical in US. In that case you need to get a 4 door JK 2013 or newer is better.

I am assuming you are in US - AZ

Re: Evolution of my Jeep Rubicon

Still have the same Jeep Rubicon unfortunately don't have a lot of time to do as many offroad trips.
I have picked up few new hobbies and toys to make sure I keep annoying my wife and keep her on her toes.

As I am getting older I like the comfort more and more. Needs are changing. Kids are growing up.

I have driven trucks, Jeeps and SUVs pretty much last 8 plus years. Wanted to get something little more go fast, more sporty.
My latest addition is an Audi A6 3.0 Quattro (yup still all wheel drive).

Re: Evolution of my Jeep Rubicon

Nice to see someone so close by. There is a separate offroad group for Indians in DFW Metroplex. Lot of my motorcycle riding buddies were part of that group and they do lot of off-road events. PM me just in case if you want to join them for offshore adventures.
