Thanks AVR!.

So what next?
Next is working on the platform. Right now, when sacks are loaded into the Jeep, the platform is deforming. So, planning something else to strengthen/give life to the platform.

And, after that, desperately need a set of lockers or nice MT tyres or both! :D

Thanks girimajiananth. After the acquisition of the Jeep I've really lost a tab on expenses on all vehicles.. really.. :D Even though the figures are not big, its frequent. So, difficult keeping a tab.

Here's the latest bill:

The main ones say:

@dhanushs

looks affordable , reading that you do a lot of off roading . I may not do so much off roading as much as you do.

I may buy an economical jeep for a different purpose and it may be a work horse.

Sir great looking Jeep and an amazing paint job irrespective of the cost. Hope you wouldnt mind me taking your cues for my Jeep. Is the paint easily available and does matt clear bring this finish.

Regards,
Barani

Yes, the paint is easily available. Its the good old NC paint, as they say. And, yes, the matt clear brightens things up and brings out that quality finish.

Its a break from OTR's now. So, the soft top is ON! Got the original Thar CRDe canopy, which fits like a glove!

The drawbacks i find for my purpose would be the soft top , and the fuel efficiency. I ve heard that that jeeps are quite heavy and hence poor FE.

I ve been using indica (sold recently) as a work horse . The somersault seats is a big advantage to me .

Primarily it was used as a car to transport machines and a small car for city run arounds.

A hard top jeep will be a good option , again it will lack comfort and FE compared to an indica.

^^ I get an FE of about 12-13 in the city. And, on Bangalore - Wayanad I get about ~15 or a bit more..

The car comfort, you will not get sir!

The jeep looks fab and purposeful now, after losing those shiny chrome bits and grills.
Nice choice of colour too. :)

Thank you saar..

Very soon my front axle will go on a CJ3B and I will be getting myself a 57" OKBJ .. Apart from the practical aspect, the looks will increase too, eh?! :D ..

But, what I'm wondering is the PCD.. How will I change the 160 PCD of the pick up axle to 139 PCD of Jeeps, in a practical way.

There will be a proper way to do it Dhanush. Its a Mahindra So the parts should be same with min changes that too in cost effective way :D. That soft top on your jeep looks awesome man I enjoyed the presents of it on my Village Highway clap:.

Dhanush sir already done the replica of NC paint proposal for the commander. Cant believe the cost difference is so high compared to others variants but then again you happened to point of the ingredients to make it good. Only advice dealer told me was to wait for a couple of hours for it to dry and then do the matt clear. Is there anything else that is required apart from NC base and matt clear? Painting starts on monday.

The jeep looks really swell! Especially with that soft top really completes the vehicle. Just one suggestion - lose most of the stickers if possible (even a few of the tbhp stickers too if possible :D) the matt finish will look perfect IMO.

P.s. we need a good set of pictures - kind of a portfolio, don't you think :)

Hi Barani,

One property of NC paint is that it dries in minutes, if not seconds.. This also makes sure that there is very less dust trapped in the surface, along with the paint. Even though wait for an hour, and then put on the clear coat. And, two things to take care of:- Sir, if I may ask, what color have you chose?

I was thinking about removing the stickers on the door and below. But, it was stuck when I went to a OTR just after painting, so, dont know what will be underneath!..

Now your Jeep looks really good. The canopy fitment is one of the best I have seen (when done outside):thumbs up.

Still, I see wrinkles on the rear bow and A pillar area, get that also sorted. Did you use the plastic press fit type plugs near the A pillar channel? Any rattling?

BTW, how much did it cost?

Sir thank you very much for your guidance on my thread. Will definitely ask them to follow the layout for painting. I had told for the Innova grey earlier but due to the high costs decided to go for your style. It is grey only and my guess is it should be a little lighter to yours. The paint booth works out a bit more than the paint cost!!!
