Hi,

What a day it was! Nothing comes closer for me in what I have experienced as one of the 'best days' of my life, so far :thumbs up

The day was an outcome of my friend/neighbour- an Army Officer who after seeing my car passion and interest took my family and me for a day's outing inside the US Army base.

The day started with a tour of the facility, visiting the innumerable army tanks, grounded planes, the training facility(where I delivered a short lecture on latest banking trends), watching a Chinook landing with a 'courier' and finally more than 3 hours spent with couple of US Army grade Hummers!:Cheering:

I visited the army only exclusive store and picked up some memorabilia too!

A day so well spent that it goes down for my family as the best day's in US and it was pure nostalgia!

I have lots of pictures to share and have put crisp notes on most of them. I am no expert in these vehicles and apologies in advance for any errors stated.

I will let the pictures talk and I have so many pictures of 'my day with the US Army Hummer' that they are way more than my marriage clicks!! Sharing some of them for your viewing pleasure!

Mods: I masked the locators and do make the necessary changes, if I have posted this in a wrong area of our forum.

Wow, I am jealous. It must have been a great experience to be around these great super functional machines.

Fantastic report. US Army uses BF Goodrich tyres. :)

How many seats does the us army hummer have inside ? I could see 3

Dear Getsurya - thanks a million for putting up the pictures of my dream vehicle on the forum. This is how a real 4WD should be. I know that it is meant for a different segment at a ridiculously high price point. I salute the the designers who delivered this desired result. There are numerous design cues that can be taken from this vehicle. Please note the driveline ratio reduction inside the wheel hub. It moves the drive shaft up therefore increasing ground clearance. It also makes the assembly very simple! The angle of operation of the hooks on the rear bumper is restrained to provide for air lift by helicopters. The most fantastic feature is the position of the center of gravity (CG) and its location under various degrees of articulation.

This is like "WOW"! :).

Best regards,

Behram Dhabhar

@ getsurya: Thanks for sharing your experience and the photos. Looks like it was one amazing day for you.

You are one incredibly lucky guy! Thanks for sharing - loved it just as much!

:Shockked: I have never ever seen a Hummer this up close. The US army has put them to the real use and I guess these are the only Hummers which are doing the Job which they are built for , rest of them I guess is only for some flashy pics (IMO).

Thank You GetSurya for sharing.

Hey Surya,

That was a refreshing set of pics to see on t-bhp for a change :)

Also thanks for the informative & crisp narration on the pics.

Hummers are known to be Guzzlers + with the extra weight because of the Armour & bullet proofing was good to see these Hummers running on "Diesel" :D
