Suggest Modifications for Bolero ZLX model

Hi All,

I am looking for some Mod jobs for my Beast.

Here are the Vehicle details:

Brand: M&M
Vehicle: Bolero ZLX 2013 Model
Odometer reading: 77,000 KM

Mods in my mind:
  1. Tyre Upsize (Currently it's 215/75/R15)
  2. Removing the Baby Seats in Third Row and make the mid row seats moveable back & forth and foldable too. Just an effort to add more BootSpace and I didn't find the baby seats usable to my needs in past 6years.
  3. Rear AC Vent
  4. Panoramic Sunroof
  5. Inbuilt Bicycle rack to hold at-least 2 bikes without removing the Rear mounted spare wheel.

Request the Profs to suggest on above points and any references of Professionals to handle these jobs in Hyderabad.

Adding few pics of my Bolero here:

Re: Suggest Modifications for Bolero ZLX model

Rear AC vent and all will probably need a lot more work than your AC is capable of. Why don't you upsize to a reasonable tyre (check the calculator at tyrestore.in) and also a good ICE upgrade - stereo + damping?

Also treat your Bolero to a full lube change (engine / brake / gear oils, coolant) using a premium brand like Amsoil or Mobil 1 instead of the Mahindra oils.

Further to what Hserus mentioned, it is advisable not to go for aftermarket panoramic sunroof. Chances are, some time down the line, water will start leaking into the cabin.

I think the first thing it needs is off road tyres and bigger wheels. Later, you can also add a decent lift kit and a winch. Would look bomb on the Bolero!

Re: Suggest Modifications for Bolero ZLX model

I would suggest full lube change of a premium brand as hserus mentioned.
Next would be full damping for all the doors and the floor. Will make a world of difference in filtering out the harsh engine vibes of the crude engine as well as the road noise.

Upgrade to good quality tyres like conti cross contact/Michelin. Do not upsize the tyre size. Stick to stock.215 section is more than sufficient for Bolero.

100% agree with Sagar. Here's what I'll recommend (Mahindra recommended in the screenshot).

Engine Oil - Amsoil 5w40 Turbo Truck CK4

Oil Filter, Air Filter, AC Filter - Purolator

Coolant - Any standard red coolant - Purolator Puroguard or Wuerth concentrate, mixed 1:3 with distilled water

Gear Oil - API GL4 80w90 - Shell Spirax

Brake Oil - DOT3 - TVS Girling is decent

1. Tyres: you cant go above 235/75/15 as it will start fouling with side fenders
2. Possible and useful mod ( i did that in my bolero)
3. You can use rear top mounted blower setup of older safari
4. try to avoid as its not cheap but if you have made up your mind, you can go for Chevrolet Cruse sunroof from a scrap vehicle. If you can get entire roof of the donor car, you can simply cut that section including partial roof area to avoid leakage (done by a friend)
5. There are various spare tyre mounted racks available
if you are looking for aesthetics enhancement, you can go for front and rear offroad bumpers. they look great.

Not a lot, but hey, it'd look damn cool.

Jokes aside, I think the OP should see what he wants first and then ask questions. The topic is very vague

Re: Our Modified Mahindra Bolero 4x4

My question to respected members,

Can I install 31 inch tyres to my Bolero?

The crown-pinion ratio is 4.30 in my vehicle.
