Dear Off Roader,

Now the wait is over and the Jimny is here. Jeep Vs Gypsy brothers have grown to become uncles and now the next generation Thar brother was left alone and wanting a younger sibling to carry on his Dad Vs uncle(s) weekend battles.

Maruti - thank you whole heartedly for taking a stand and finally bringing in the Jimny (4 door nonetheless) to take on its elder brother head long.

Dear Anand Mahindra Ji - Lets the games begin.

Cut to the chase. You are a new Jimny owner (Or a wannabe Jimny owner). I will skip the part about what a Jimny is or was or what is the Jeep Vs Gypsy Debate, read old threads about it here on TBhp over the last 15 years.

My Offroad journey began in 2009 . Yours will begin soon if you are new to offroad. Congratulations.

The intent of the thread is to discuss your wish-list, generate interest, share knowledge and discuss what your Jimny can be in future.

Suspension - lift kits, track bars, alignment issues, spacer blocks, etc?
Offroad tyres/wheels - how much big can the Jimny 1.5 take?
Performance - Engine power, tuning, headers & exhaust, CAI, chip...
Lighting - Dual battery, LED lights (strictly for offroad use Warning, please!)
Tcase - Crawl gears?
Armour - Bash plates, rock sliders? roll cage?
Better Angles - Stubby bumpers for better approach/departure, 8mm skid for underbody?
Camping - Awning, tents, how to use the short boot for overlanding trips, roof rack, etc
Recovery - winch, ropes, chassis points, etc

My wishlist
2" Lift, 1 upsize wheel and tyres, bumpers front/rear, 8" Alu skid plate for the LWB version to begin with from Day-1 of ownership.

Attaching some random pics from net with their sources mentioned.

Greatly looking forward to ogling over modified Jimnys :thumbs up. The best part of such cars is the level of customisation available in the market, and how owners splurge on them.

No two modified 4x4s are the same :). I have thoroughly enjoyed modifying my Thar, thread will be up soon. We spent about 30% of the car's cost in modifications!

The Jimny - being an international model - already has loads of customisation options available globally. You can expect players like Bimbra, Arka etc. to offer parts for the Jimny too.

My wishlist:
1. Tyre upgrade
2. Old Man Emu suspension with a 40mm lift
3. Evo Corse Alloys (stretch goal)
4. Turbo kit (yet another stretch goal)

I spend most of yesterday drooling at the options available at https://streettracklife.com/search?p...y&type=product.

Drive on,
Shibu

Here's some modification's I have shortlisted from the day of booking Alpha AT variant.

List is in order of priority.
1. Offroad RIMS with set of Yokohama G015 AT 215/75R15 or 235/75R15 (subject to clearance)
2. Underbody Armour
3. Snorkel Kit
4. Diff. Breather extension
5. Roof Carrier
6. Diff. Lockers Front & Rear (preferably Air lockers)
7. Lift kit 2" with camber and end stop correction

I am very skeptical on making the car look different from stock (from police view) with every state in India interpreting the central vehicle rules differently.

Two Jimnys I spotted abroad. Not overtly done but noticeable

I waited and waited for the jimny but it never came. Bought the Hyryder hybrid and they come out with the jimny after 3 months. Aw man. Never felt so depressed.

I had my whole modding scene planned a year ago.

-Tyres BF GOODRICH 215s or 235s
-iron man bumpers
-Winch
-skid plates
-flood lights brighter than the sun
-40mm lift kit.
-old S U Z U K I grill

It would look something like this.

Feast your eyes on this Suzuki Jimny with an Adventure Defender kit by the Japanese legends down at Mudron.

The few things I would consider if I buy the Jimny are;

1. OME Suspension straight swap Upgrade
2. Roof Rack/ carrier box
3. Full Underbody protection/ armour including petrol tank and silencer end can - preferably in aluminium to keep things light and rust free.
4. Rock sliders
5. More powerful halogen headlamps
6. Dashcam
7. Tyre upsize and switch to AT tread.
8. Fender flares
9. Rain Visors
10. Head rest mounted Hat / coat Rack
11. Bolt on Turbo Kit (maybe)
12. Functional snorkel (maybe)
13. Pair of good Hella Halogen Foglamps
14. Seat back hard plastic covers/ Protectors for the rear seats so as to be rough-useable when folded flat.

More than one foreign Jimny owner has mentioned on the internet, buying lockers for the rear Jimny differential. So, that is likely to be an option at some point.

I want to change 3 things for starters. The tyres to 215/75 bf goodriches. Is this available in india?
Second is better suspension, third id better lighting!

Jimny turbo bolt on kit - https://www.ctb.co.nz/blogs/suzuki/s...-turbo-package

Now to wait till I see it adopted. Unfortunately this is beyond the scope of my DIY skills.

Drive on,
Shibu

This 215 vs 235 dilemma is hard to crack. I am also confused if 235 will be worth slowing down the Jimny.

Are there any 215 80 R15 AT tyres available?

Dunno the answer but I have had several sets of these BFs. They are better than Indian tyres but not as good as Michelin LTX and Continental. I had Continentals and they were almost as good as Michelins. Continentals are a pretty good German tyre you find on better German cars....if these are available..one shop told me they are, but I am going to call around to make sure.
These below are pretty good. They have a deep tread and handle hwy, slush, snow all pretty fair for an All Terrain tyre.

And maybe 11,000 as opposed to 18,000 per your quote.

To all of guys planning to buy jimny and do upgrades on it, I recommend checking out “TreadTrails” on youtube (this is not sponsored etc)
He is a 4x4 guy and shows the modifications that could be done to the jimny in India

My wish list:

1, Dobinson's suspension upgrade. Coils and shocks (Checked the prices in Dubai. 62K for stage 1 and 84K for stage 2)
2, Lightforce Strikers (22K for pair)
3, Good AT tyres
