Gypsy restoration:
(
https://www.team-bhp.com/forum/4x4-vehicles/52405-gypsy-restoration.html)
my gypsy as i bought it and now with its rebuilt engine and ongoing bodywork also included is a rough sketch by me of how i would want it to look like!: 1996 Hardtop MG410W
will keep this thread updated daily with progress on the gyp!
Nice sketch there :D I can't keep myself away from drawing some more lines on it so here it is :
Those rollcage like thing can be made of thick hollow steel pipes (painted matt black) and one air scoop can be made on bonnet with performance air filter (KN ? ) fitted there.
hey chargerman,
You still planning to keep the CNG kit??
thanks hashim, i really like the rollcage design, i have been making some sketches but they were not blending with the design of the car. i love this one, its actually something i was looking for, somehow looks like the MRF rally car now! i will definitely implement this one: though i am not sure about the hood scoop, i planned to shape 2 pieces of checker plates and rivet them to the bonnet for the rugged look. i am uncertain about changing the grille to the KING one which is the same as samurai,
about the CNG: i have never driven a car with cng. if the drive is pathetic i will remove it but if its not too bad i might retain it. or refit it later when i upgrade the engine to the 1.6 vitara plant with auto transmission and manual 4x4 coz i hear that engine is thirsty..
So Gypsy is imported to Bangladesh ?
yes alongside the samurai..
Sorry! i meant "exported to bangladesh" from India??
not much visible work done, but primer goes on today, all rust removed and replaced with new panels where needed, couldnt find new bumpers so started making them again.. can anyone tell me where i can get a KING front grille in Kolkata? have decided to make a custom soft top so wont need to get an oem one.
Any upgradation with the engine.. or you just working with the body?
oh engine is completely rebuilt, its bored out to 1100cc i guess, should be good enough, otherwise have spare 1600cc of vitara just in case i need an upgrade ;)

Hi, Why not chop the rear overhang of the Gypsy too? It helps a lot during offroad.
Also, if is better if you go for the manual transmission instead of the auto transmission !
Cheers
headers - can you pls post some pics of where along the chasis did you get the chop done and where did you place the petrol tank?
Cheers
Ankit
Nice Going Chargerman,

slow snails pace progress, but the bumpers are now made, new seats installed, bodywork complete, primer done, now awaiting paint.
