Xenon will be more suited as a long distance kind of tourer rather than a hardcore off-roader. Looks stunning and personally looks better than the Scorpio Getaway and also the Telcoline.

Here are two more renditions I did, an even shorter wheelbase. A single cab and a modernized Sierra. |
the last rendition of yours is the best. Change the alloys to something else. It'll be terrific. You can probably choose to make it bling bling or true blue 4X4.
kudos mate.
@Mr Bangalore, I saw the website. didn't like the wallpapers there.

Wow man, the first one going to sell like hot cakes. I would buy for sure. But with same 2.2 safari engine..clap:
Second one also good, somewhat the size of Grand Vitara at a price of 5 to 7 lakhs. Going to be great, only if..
Thanks, guys.
From the moment I saw the Xenon, I knew it was too big and never going to be a success off-road. Actually 14000rpm's post about the mod job prompted me to try it out. If only the Tata guys were seeing this and understood the need of a true blood 4x4 more than thinking only cosmetically.
Here's the last rendition on the larger wheelbase (still smaller than the original). I am somehow reminded of the Ford Endeavour and the LC here.
Great work there.
I feel the above one looks similar to the Sumo Grande, except may be for the height!

Awesome pic @mclaren. Is it a 4x4? Can it be driven for long distances in comfort? |
Yes, it is a 4x4. Like most people I do agree that it is not a hard core offroader, more like a soft roader actually. But my friend picked it up so that he could ferry around a lot of luggage etc. And personally, I hardly had to slow down for any deviations or potholes or speedbreakers.
I was so impressed by the truck that by the end of the trip, I was trying to negotiate a deal to swap the truck with my swift for a couple of weeks. Personally, I felt very comfortable driving long distances in the Xenon. Only other SUV I have felt that comfortable is the Innova (sofa on wheels as I call it).
The engine is capable of cruising around 130 kmph, but the truck handles a lot better when the bed is loaded with some luggage, if not you have some sideways entertainment :D .
Only let down is the quality of plastics which is not too bad, nor too good either. But this truck is sure a head turner. I have had many instances when people were shocked to know it was a Tata.

That is is very good feedback from a baleno owner because I feel the Baleno has one of the best seats in terms of driving comfort. I have travelled long distances in my Baleno without back pain though I have a slipped disk. Now that I have sold the Baleno, I need a long distance cruiser when I return to India and the Xenon had definitely set my pulse racing when I first saw the pictures. Now that it is getting good feedback from bhpians it is definitely on top of my wishlist.

Its just like driving a baleno. You can drive for really really long stretches, get out of the car and go to play a game of football. Or in my case, help memo get his SX4 ready for the drag and then drive back to Bangy the same night. Infact, we all kept fighting for the keys to the Xenon. Whoever wasn't driving the Xenon had to drive a turbo SX4. So I leave you to imagine the fun we were having.
I just calculated the following
Shortest single cab version
Approach angle - 34/35°
Departure angle - 34/35°
Brake over angle - 34°+
Wheelbase - 2450 mm (Size of the Indigo)
The longer version
Wheelbase - 2785 mm
Approach angle - 34/35°
Departure angle - 34/35°
Brake over angle - 28°+
If only Tata had done this instead. Would have cost a lot lesser and weighed lesser too. :Frustrati
I saw an awesome looking Silver xenon XT in lingarajapuram (b'lore). it had almost all the accesories listed and no, this was not a test drive car belonging the either dealers. Although it looks this good, there aren't too many takers. not many on road.

Man, I gotta compliment your skillset. Your PS has blown me away. If Tata ever sells an SUV that looks like this, some import SUVs would be put to shame (atleast on the looks front).

Beautiful renderinmg of the Xenon, if this was available from TATA I would definitely consider it, it looks way better than the Grande, for some reason, I find the Grande slanting towards the front, and don't like it's looks too much, but this is way better looking.

But most likely Tata will end up making another monstrosity like the Sumo Grande and then sulk wondering why it doesn't sell. Hope they don't screw up the next Safari like they did the Sumo Grande.
thanks rahul for uploading the pic.

Nice pic. I see this one has lost the hub caps as well.:Frustrati. Once would think that by now Tata would have figured out a better design. something that maybe has a bit that sticks under the wheel. |
Nop, non of the hub caps have fallen off, I removed them as they don't go with the look of the vehicle, considering its skinny tires being a 4x4, by the way that is the used Xenon I bought which has already done 9555kms to date with some nice trail blazing and some minor off-roading, very evident on the damage too the nudge-guard.

I did a moderate chop job on the Xenon here. I think this should make it a better offroader now, shorter overhangs, smaller wheelbase, two seater with lockable luggage area behind the seats. Attached with the original version for size. |
